Uh oh. I think I should refer to South Africa as ZA from now on...I keep on forgetting that SA means something totally different to most members on here

To make things even more confusing we even have a town called Adelaide here

The sad thing about living in ZA is that we have one power utility provider that holds the monopoly here. They are also government-owned and in the past 5 years they have hiked the electricity rates with I think around 300% if I'm not nistaken. So whereas a normal power utilities provider's main goal is to provide power generation to the country, ours is profit. To put it into perspective, we export power to neighbouring countries for cheaper than what we can buy it ourselves. And not only surplus...rolling blackouts of 3 - 5 hours at a time are very common here

Had ESWL (ultrasound shock treatment) on a 1cm kidney stone on Thursday past. Have spent the weekend bouncing in & out of ER in severe pain as the stones passed.
Pro tip guys, drink plenty of water & cut back on the fizzy!
This is the third time I've had stones, the previous case resulted in a stent for two weeks.

Good to hear you're better.   1cm sounds quite large.   

My wife had stones a few years back, but they were only a few mm in diameter.  Still quite painful.

+ Mrs G was there with me
- drove home to be met with patrol car blocking main road ahead of major intersection without power
- stopped short of the 'automatic' garage door to enter house and manually open it and get Firty safely inside
- manually opened Mrs G's rollerdoor to save her the same grief when she arrives
- worried she might be delayed due to traffic or worse
+ she arrives safely and we start lighting candles and cooking dinner
+ settling in to a romantic candle lit dinner
- power comes back on

Had ESWL (ultrasound shock treatment) on a 1cm kidney stone on Thursday past. Have spent the weekend bouncing in & out of ER in severe pain as the stones passed.
Pro tip guys, drink plenty of water & cut back on the fizzy!

+ Followed by 2 weeks of "home standby" (it's Claytons work, the work you do when you aren't at work)
+ Followed by 2 weeks of "field leave" (to compensate for being on 2 weeks of home standby)
+ 6 weeks off without taking any holidays!!
