Hi eye 30 . I did consider having a go in doing it myself but the way I have been performing lately I have thought twice about it. As the car has only done 4500 km I think I will leave it to the experts otherwise I can see it costing me a lot more money. Many a time I have attempted to do things and afterwards regretted it and wishing I had left it alone. Thank you for your thoughts and the link. :goodjob2:

Sorry to hear that John! I would have thought a "paintless" mobile dent removal crowd could do it without taking out the head lining  :undecided:

Thanks Dazz, The company " Wizard dent removal " are a " paintless " dent removal  specialist . They reckon they still need to get access under the roof lining to be able to press out the dents. I also thought before I got the quote they would be able to do it without taking the roof lining down. I have not rushed into getting it done as I am going to get some quotes from other dent removal companies and see what they have to say . To be honest the dents  don't look that bad but they bug me knowning they are there.

That is interesting, hopefully another crowd can do it easier and cheaper ..  :fingers:

That's sad, not much reinforcement in the roof.  :fum:

Quite correct, The repair guy said it is a sad fact that the modern car panels are so much thinner than the old ones , you only have to lean on the roofs without much force to dent them, he also said he has had to repair roofs where people had put to much effort in polishing them. I am now wondering if I would have been better off putting a tow bar on and just hiring a trailer when required rather than roof racks, it could work out cheaper in the long run.

Compared to the Holden FJ roof, new cars are virtually flat which doesn't help integral strength, either.

Racks vs trailer, benefit of hindsight.

These paintless dent removal companies know what they are doing.
I used one a few years ago for dents in the roof of my AU Falcon.
They dropped the roof lining too and once finished it was like new.  :)

The repairer did say with his experience the only way to do it properly was to drop the roof lining . When you think what the car cost I guess the quote of $250 to $300 is worth it if the car looks as new again. :goodjob2:

I agree.
On my last i30 (the FD), I had a sunroof fitted.
After I picked the car up and drove it home, I noticed some huge dents in the roof and I was rather concerned.
I rand up the sunroof installer and he said to bring it back, no problems, they'd just tightened things up too much.
They adjusted it and the dents disappeared.
It must be very thin metal.

Its funny how a dent in the roof can play on your mind. This morning I opened a couple of cans of sardines for my dogs breakfast and I thought blimey these tins are tougher than my car.  :snigger:

- looks like my camcorder has lived a long life and now it longs for a retirement - the recording freezes after about 2 minuts after power up no matter with or without accumulator (it noticably swelled up). SD card replacement doesn't help either.
+ any comments about DOD LS400W? Is it gonna be a good replacement?

-had to take day off work because I've contracted hand, foot & mouth from my daughter who got it at preschool. She had mild spots for a day. I was quite sick on Saturday, started getting spots yesterday and woke up this morning hands covered, all inside mouth covered and various other parts of my body.
It's not dangerous just painful, hurts to eat, hurts to walk and the ones on my hands especially doing anything hurts. And there is no treatment for it.
-was told not to go to work this week at all due to high contagiousness. I'd only been back at work a week.
-I'm trying to sleep on the air bed in the lounge room in a vain attempt to prevent my wife from catching it. Oldest daughter looks like she has a few spots in her mouth and she's supposed to go back to school tomorrow.

Thanks. It will all sort itself out in a day or so. Just frustrating.
I'd heard of it before but never seen it. Fairly common to go through preschools. Apparently fairly rare for an adult to catch it though.
