- Shaz thinks she's fu**ed up the Rav4 - plumes of grey smoke followed by a few clunks, then all stop.

- After driving to meet her and getting nothing but clanks from the engine, I agreed

- So did the recovery guy :(

 Wow, I thought it was relatively new? Still under warranty? :sweating:

Still under warranty but I think it's a classic Rav4 head gasket failure. We dumped the car at the (closed) Toy dealership's gated entrance with a note (and key) pushed through their door.

"FIX THIS PIECE OF SHIT"

It may not be a warranty fix but having emptied Shaz's stuff into Vayda, then proceeded to manicure the fekkin neddies, the sooner they fix it the better, as my car smells of horse shit.

Very handy when you can fix your own stuff Tim!  :victory:

Does come in handy, but only car stuff.

I didnt think you could kill Niva's
I've got friends in the Lada Niva club, when a new member joins they openly joke around with you saying "so you've bought a piece of crap, welcome to the club " at least if you were to buy one now it's more than likely had all the aftermarket replacements/improvements and they're then a good little 4x4.

That's all a bit negative.   :(

+ or - (not sure) looks like a classic RAV4 HGF, from my investigations

+ called from Mr T (where we'd dumped the car) to say if it is, it'll be a warranty job

Any chance of loan car from recovery cover?
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

The recovery will only pay £100 towards a hire/loan car, which won't be enough given Mr T has said it'll probably be middle of next week before the Rav is fixed.

But I'm hoping for a loaner from Mr T if it turns out to be a warranty fix - should find out later today.

Sorry to hear about your missus' RAV issues, Shambles. Hope they get it sorted soon! Maybe you should remove all the Toyota emblems and replace them with Hyundai ones...you never know, it might just help

- I had another puncture with Hippo yesterday; a nice big screw snuck in between the treads of my right rear tyre. Of course, when I stopped to change to my spare tyre, the heavens opened up and Wabbit16 managed to get himself soaked. On the bright side, at least my spare wheel wasn't flat too

- Hippo isn't dog or cat-proof, either:

What a lot of rubbish.
My cat often jumps on our cars, uses them to get up to the surfboard racked near the ceiling where she sleeps.
Apart from a few dusty paw prints on the screen, what's the problem?

The cats dusty paw prints on the car are the problem, plus sand that scratches the paint.

The neighbours cat tried sleeping on the warm bonnet of my clubby a couple of times, it never came back after I hit it with the high pressure Karcher :)

Never had a scratch from a cat (on my car) in 20 years of cats.

Dust?
Any westerly, N Westerly or S Westerly brings dust around here.

Well he'd scratched my car which is why he got the karcher, I like cats and we used to breed Birmans but I think the rules should be the same for cats as with dogs and not allowed to roam.

They crap in peoples garden beds, kill birds is the surrounding conservation areas and jump on my bloody car.

I like dogs.
I don't mind cats except they kill native wildlife, crap in my garden, sit on my car and my dog makes friends with them and refuses to chase them away.
I'm starting to sound like Craig.

There's no way for me to keep the cat off the car, so I've learnt to deal with it. I shoo him off when he is near the tailgate (don't want scratches down my rear window) but a person can't always see them and catch them in the act.

In other serious news, I found a scratch running lengthways down the left side of my car, from my side mirror to my fuel cap. Either someone lightly keyed my car or some bloody bird scraped her handbag along the length of my car. It's very deep, I doubt it will buff out. Sad Wabbit :(

Either way, it's done. I tend to always park a fair distance from other cars in parking lots, just in case something like this happens.

- I am sitting with a piece of crap Italian machine and it isn't even a Fiat or an Alfa :p (no offense to owners of reliable Italian cars, of course)

I am seriously considering performing some 'percussive maintenance' on this thing in the next few minutes...

I don't think it would be a bird.
More likely a cat on a skate board.   :D
