- Hippo has another scar on her bum. It looks like someone knocked a shopping trolley into the rear bumper and took a bit of paint off. So much for me parking far away from the entrances to avoid exactly this :spitty:
+ Short week this week as we have a public holiday on Thursday.
- I am on standby duty and will need to go out to a client to change backup tapes anyways, but at least I can go whenever I feel like it and not at a certain time.
+ My house is more or less moved and I will be carting the rest of the stuff down this coming weekend. Can't wait to get this move over and done with!
+ I am seeing a client in Humansdorp today at 09:00 so Hippo can stretch her legs again this morning, but - The weather isn't too pleasant outside with lots of wind. Curse these coastal cities!

Dazz its been a learning curve for me. I let the shop owner steer me to this bike and I love it. If I get into it, i wanna do downhill stuff, there will be alot of research before my next one.

Same here - when I got mine.  Haven't actually replaced anything except the tires and tubes, added: lights, a bell and cycle 'computer'

@Dazz - there are so many parts and accessories you can get to add or upgrade - you can basically replace everything but the frame with other (theoretically better) parts.  But usually a make/models will come with certain components, at least for some types of them, (gears, etc; brakes; suspension) from certain suppliers as default.

The biggest change I made was from 'knobbly' off-road tyres.   Which on-road make it harder to cycle (they deform more - using energy; they tend to grip more - unless the road is very smooth finished - because of the vertical-ish side of the knobs; and give a less smooth ride, esp. low speed (esp. on smooth services), as the knobs make/brake contact - also using energy.  So if you are going to use a mountain bike mostly on sealed roads/footpaths, or relatively smooth/warn dirt paths, then smoother tyres are usually better hence my change.

No name??? You would not do well in Indonesia where a lot of the population still indulges in animism despite its official 6 religions not including this.

+ One less thing about which to worry when owning a manual.

Yup - No Name.   Maybe I should start a topic for suggestions.

Yeah - manual wasn't an option for SLX... would have preferred it, but wasn't a deal breaker.

+ Took 19yo for another driving session yesterday evening
+ First ever set of night time driving/minutes - averaged out to about 35-40km/h (did residential, arterial and motorway - light traffic)
+++ Didn't crash, or anything else for that matter
- I was a bit more on edge than during the day... no idea why
+ 19yo got to experience a car that is performing slightly sub-optimally
--- A**hole tail gating a L plater doing the stated limit - luckily short distance but...

I hate seeing that.  L-platers have enough to worry about without the added distraction of some jerk breathing down their neck.

I always try to give L-platers at least a 3-second following distance.

 :iws:

I took a family friend for a drive (she is on her L plates).  One idiot screamed up behind her, tailgated for a minute or two, and then screamed past her, faster and closer than necessary.  Obviously that person was a great driver from the start and went from tricycles to HC license without even being on their L plates.  Others would come up behind, see the L plate, and then drop back a good distance.  I much prefer the second type of driver.

:whsaid: With all the shit you get asked on here I'm predicting top 3 (or it might be "on your bike")

+ Short week this week as we have a public holiday on Thursday.
When I was working collecting money for doing very little, I never knew what to make of mid week public holidays (most of ours are on Friday or Monday) but better than no holiday at all... :goodjob:

I too would prefer a long weekend with a Friday or Monday off, but then again I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth :p

- Sue's mum is deteriorating further with dementia in a nursing home in Albany.  :(
- Sue's dad has diagnosed Alzheimer's and has has been re-admitted to hospital in Armadale. They are increasing his morphine dosages so things are not looking great there.  :(
+ Sue is visiting her dad tomorrow.  :)
+ Sue is visiting her mum on October 19th.  :)

We're going to take an extra run down to Albany soon in the Land Rover and spend a night down there.
It's always hard to find time but we need to because I know from experience there will be regrets later if we don't.
Both of her parents are in their mid-eighties, as are my parents.
Thankfully my parents are doing a bit better.

- The sun sets on the lives of Sue's parents.

+ New life is imminent. Our youngest daughter has been admitted to hospital today and is due to give birth to our fourth grandchild.
