What is a wallet? :lol:

Actually I need to have my car serviced this month coming so the fine will have to wait for a bit. Priorities, you know. In the end they will probably have to thank me for allowing them the opportunity to rack up another fine in due course :whistler:

I don't know how it works where you live but over here a traffic infringement notice does not give you a traffic record.
It is only recorded for the purpose of demerit points.
But if convicted in a court, it means you actually have a traffic record.
An I/N is just an opportunity to dispose of the matter without going to court.

Over here I am not so sure, to be totally honest with you. I have spoken to a metro cop and what he told me and what the ward councillor said differ. The metro police also have a different stance on matters, as do the bylaws accessible on the internet through the relevant government department.

It reminds me of a little quote I saw a few years ago:

Quote
Theory is when you think you know something but it doesn't work.
Practice is when something works but you don't know why.
Usually we combine theory and practice: nothing works and we don't know why.

I spoke to a local ward councillor and she informed me that since the notice of the infringement was more than 30 days after my alleged offense, the fine is invalid. Also, it has to be delivered by registered post (mine was in my postbox), so I might just toss it in file 13 and wait for the summonses and see if they follow through.

Can you verify this before you decide your intended course of action?

I looked last night for the documentation on the govt website but didn't come up with anything solid. The whole needle and haystack thing comes to mind...

Hi Phil, I don't think you will win. I understand how you feel but it usually ends up costing you more to fight it. Cop it on the chin and move on...

+ I had planned to wash the ute today.
- It had some road grime on it as well which didn't wash off.
+ Decided to "clay bar" the ute as well.
- That still didn't remove all of the road grime.
-- Ended up washing, clay bar-ing, paint cleaning, polishing, and then waxing the ute.
++ It looks really good.
+++ The paint cleaner removed the road grime.
++++ Beer o'clock.

- We need a new shower, the current one is leaking.
+ Plans for a new one look good.
- Looking good and done properly costs money.
+ I could do it myself, and save some money.
- That way would end up costing way more.
+ I am going to pay somebody to do it for me.

See, that is the difference between a good friend and a great friend. A good friend will bail you out when the need arises. A great friend will be in the cell next to you saying, "Dude, that was freaking awesome!!"

I agree.
But that would have called for me to display my stand up in the Hay Street mall.  :lol:
