Keep the rubber side down, xiziz!

Do you run winter tyres during the cold months?

Yeah, full set of nearly new Kumho iZen KW22 studded winter tyres on right now that came with the car. Never driven Kumho before. Law mandates winter tyres december through march but as Im dependant on the car and drive a lot of early mornings and late nights(shift work) I have them on as the weather mandates, usually october to early may.

After the flaky power service here blew both the modem and router power supplies, I was making lots of noise for the landlord to replace them. In typical Indonesian fashion, it was easier for me to travel into town and get a replacement modem power supply from the ISP free of charge (+), but the router wasn't theirs, so back to agonising over finding a replacement and the not yet known cost (-).

I got the chauffer to drop me off at Bandung Electronics Centre (+), a big, mall-style, escalator filled, air conditioned 5 storey building mostly selling mobile phones and wifi equipment. No luck there, surprisingly (-), but I got a couple of young kids to rummage through their box and locate a close replacement (+). They found one and offered a price of 120,000 Rupiah (A$12) but I held off for some chance at comparison, which wasn't happening at BEC (-).

So I took the suggestion of trying another place called Jaya Plaza. Messaged the chauffer to come 'round and off we went. We got there soon and the place was no BEC. No escalators, barely adequate lighting, no AC and most people smoking inside (-). I found one of several shops with random supplies hanging above their counters and found a suitable one, only with twice the ampage (+). I asked the price, me the only 'bule' in the building but smashing through with a perfect local accent (thank you Spanish and Italian) (+) and the price came in at 35,000 (A$3.50) (+).

I didn't even bother tawar-menawar (bargaining) so happy with getting home and getting our WIFI back up to full power once again! (+) :victory:

If it was you delaying you'd be paying hefty penalties to the other party.
I would be asking the question.

+ One day to go.
- It won't be an easy one (it is my annual Instrument Proficiency Check, formerly Instrument Rating Test).
- Can't have a beer afterwards.
+ Head home tomorrow night.
+ Flying direct to Melbourne with Royal Brunei.
- Can't have a beer on that airline either.

Not sure, Dazz.  They have to renew all of our qualifications if they make us redundant.  The check was due anyway, so it had to be done, regardless.

+ think of going to Prague while on vacation in February.

I had a 4 day trip there last fall. The center of the city was a bit too crowded with tourists, but If you walked 30 mins there were old fortresses and walkways over the hills and the views were beautiful over the city. Only problem was that when I was there it was +30'C. It made the walking a real task. Luckily there is plenty of good and cheap beer available.

:) :goodjob2:
It is crowded in winter too; I have been there twice: in September and in the end of November, the latter was a lovely time with Xmas fairs.
There is not only cheap beer, but everything is cheap as compared with the rest of Europe.
