Thanks guys.  I appreciate all the kind words.  :DoubleKiss:

I realise how lucky I am to have both my mum and my dad still as I lost both my in-laws many years ago.  :fingers:

When I get a chance I will post a photo of mum and dad, we are waiting for them (the photos, not mum and dad  :snigger:)  to be distributed amongst the family.

It seems a day for stokes...my neighbor was medivac off Barrow Island early yesterday morning and then medical flight all the way to Perth and ambulance to Charles Gardiner Hospital...... all good so far...

Great they were both attended to quickly. Makes all the difference apparently.  :fingers:

Certainly can - the appropriate actions can be taken depending on the type (clot vs. rupture) to prevent further damage and/or mitigate that which has happened.  Without attention it can get worse and/or make it harder to treat the damage already done through therapy, etc. - of course in some people they seem very badly off and weeks or only a few months later are almost entirely 'right as rain'.

We also had someone faint at the same service (so I was told) - no idea why but apparently they came around quickly and didn't require medical attention.

And we did need to call another ambulance sometime after the service but that was for someone else, sought of expected and almost none of the congregation were there...  more medical transport for admission than medical emergency - being unable to get the person into the passenger seat of a car.

Sheesh, where to start...

Congrats on your purchase, Misha!

Congrats to your mum Kittikat, hope she had a wonderful day :goodjob:

Sorry to hear about the stroke of your acquantance, walkingbass. May he make a full and speedy recovery. Gareth, same to you, hope the parishioner will be A-ok! Also to Neptune, well wishes to your neighbour!

+ Hippo is still going well, she ticked over to 208'000 the other day with n'eer a hitch or fault. The driver seat is getting a bit squeaky but I think the bolsters are getting a bit tired and the seat mechanism that connects to the rails that are bolted to the chassis are a bit 'loose' as the seat rocks side to side ever so slightly when taking sharp corners. Not a train smash, unlike what happened to me earlier on during the week...

- I found the limit of grip of my Firestone TZ200's. I was rounding a 90 degree corner pretty fast as I had a small emergency to attend to at home (I know, no excuse but I'll elaborate for the sake of the story...), but it had rained earlier on during the night and I might have forgotten to compensate for the road being a bit off-camber. I was probably doing about 60kph before I hit the brakes and started turning (bad combo on a damp road), the wheels locked up and the car ended up heading straight for the KFC drive-through ahead of me. I climbed off the brakes, back onto the throttle at full tilt and between the ESP and all the other 3-letter acronyms I managed to steer down my intended path and I probably missed the curb and the adjacent streetlight by about 15cm.

Total cost? Most likely a year off my life expectancy and a clean pair of undies. The TZ200's deformed so much with the abovementioned maneuver that I could see the surface scrapes from the tar a good 5cm up the sidewalls...lesson learnt, ride sensibly and calmly in an emergency and don't drive like a tw*t as I did :whistler:

+ I am toying with the idea of going to the annual Simola Hillclimb in Knysna in May. We don't get many car shows hereabouts and this particular one is only about 3 hours' drive away. The accommodation is crazy expensive along the Garden Route, but a fellow petrolhead lady friend has expressed interest in joining which will lessen the financial impact a bit...if I play my cards right

Happy Easter, all :)

Works for me, drive safely and live vicariously through those who occasionally make use of the ESP.

Besides, even at 30kph, that's Indonesia every day. :sweating:

   My nice i30 hit the 250,000 km mark when we were on our way on Easter holiday with the caravan, hence the poor economy figure. (Well, I actually think 12,5 km/liter is ok when towing 1300 kg)

The boys said about 5 years ago they didn't want to join us camping anymore, unless it's summer holiday in the south (Italy or Croatia), so yes, they stayed home.... It's nice to know the house isn't empty when we're away.
What can go wrong with 2 20 y/o boys alone at home... :P

+ Easter holidays, so I had few days to spend with the dog and we had time to do some blood trail training.
- One time he lost it for a while, but I'll have to admit that he was quite tired (unfortunately the only time when I had the camera)
+ Quality time in the woods.
- Back to work tomorrow

+Temps have risen and the weather seems to get better. Time to change the spike tyres to summer ones. First winter with these spikes (continental icecontact 2). Seems like I did not loose a single spike during the winter. Overall very happy with the performance. But I must say the car came a whole lot quieter (is that even a word?) with summer tyres.

Nice! Is this due to comps. that resulted in you going to the world comp (and getting 2nd worldwide - for those who don't know) or separate comp/new iteration of such?

BTW when did you get the SR?   Did I miss/forget a post?

Yeah I think it is a word, or can pass for it at least :)

Spikes in tyres just seem like a combination for punctures to me
