Those seem in very good condition, how many km did you do on them?
About 7-8000km. I did not measure the wear difference between front and rear tyres. I'll have to check that during the weekend. Generally I tend to drive fairly carefully. They say that the first kms you should drive very carefully so that the spikes have time to get fully seated in their places. Therefore I try to drive the first 1000km without too much heavy braking and accelerating.
I'll have to measure the wear and tear of the rubber before I praise those tyres too much, but at this point I am very happy with their performance  :D.

Yeah, I'm fairly careful too, at least compared to the rest of the motorists around here and don't do much braking or accelerating, just up to speed and then more or less stay there 50km. Checked the logs, mine have done just shy of 9000km, rears look just fine, like the winter tires on my volvo after about the same distance. However this is the result on the fronts, and the right one is even worse:

Missing about 1/4 of the studs and half of them have gone flat. Too much tarmac this winter I guess, was a very mild one, only January was actually winter conditions on the roads. Don't have any thread depth information though.

So for a little on-topic too: Got the summer hankooks fitted today, cleaned and lubricated the breaks. Went for a small spin around the area, what a joy not to have the dreadful noise of the studded tires. They don't sound half as bad as I got the impression from the internet off(though my old Volvo is quieter even with the studded ones on, had that out for a small spin yesterday.)

Torqued the lug-nuts to 110Nm since I could not find any information on what its supposed to be, the dealership had them on so hard I had to use a breaker bar to pry them off.

+ I managed to get most of the tar off Hippo over the weekend with copious amounts of Clean Green (with a good dollop of elbow grease), paraffin and alcohol. I started with the Clean Green but after half an hour and only the rear fender done I thought "bugger this" and bought a litre of paraffin from the nearby hardware store. What a difference! The stuff wiped off with ease...

- ...but unfortunately the rags I used were saturated with tar and the waxy residue pretty much smeared all over my car. It wasn't noticeable under the carport but once in the sun I saw that Hippo had turned brown. It took another hour with some microfibre rags and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol to get the smeared residue off after which I could shampoo and wash it properly. The clearcoat looks to be untouched, thankfully. Total cost: ZAR200.00 for the cleaning fluids and 8 or 9 cleaning rags and 4 hours of my Sunday afternoon. Oh, and my nice sponge as well :undecided:

+++ I finally got my promotion after throwing my toys a few times and a well timed phone call from someone who wanted to interview me at another company. After tax I should be up by about 30% so I am all smiles. It's sad that I had to fight so hard for something that I was promised for over a year, but at least I got it in the end. All's well that ends well :goodjob2:

+ Hippo clocked over to 210'000KM today without skipping a beat. I think she deserves a good vacuum this weekend

There is "criteria" for Birthday wishes John. I think it is active in the last 30 or 60 days or something (Most of those including my better half) haven't been on the site in months.  :undecided:

That's strange as people have been given birthday wishes who haven't been on in a year, six months, etc.....

"ns"

Today I sat in the symposium minding my own business (front row as usual because I'm an interesting foreign creature among the population) and an Indonesian colonel asks me to provide a presentation on Information Operations. Never say no, I was the only student to present on the day - without notice and all in Indonesian!

Sets the bar for the other foreign students, namely US, Malaysia, India and Singapore.

One one level, I would say:  :foottap: :TutTut: :kissmyass:
On the other, I would say:  :workitout: :crazy3: :Dunno:
My language is consistently rated the best among the foreigners, but I have to wonder just how far behind they really are to grasp even the simplest concepts. :goodjob:

I took it in the best light, as is your consistent courtesy, Phil, but you did introduce a great double entendre which I couldn't refuse.

- Random noises from the suspension came permanent.
+ I finally found out what makes those noises: front stabilizer link bar is worn out on the drivers side
+ New parts were only 30€ (both sides together)
- Weather was so bad that I was not able to change it during my holiday. Now when the weather is good I'll have to work.

Thank god it is almost friday...

First fishing trip of the year. 20'c and no wind.

I got a small pike. Hungry little fellow. There were a common roach inside its mouth.

After the trip I started to gut the pike. Suddenly I noticed that something came out of the rear end of the pike while I was taking the fish scales off.

Looks like a tapeworm. It squirmet around my "gutting board". Suddenly I was not in the mood of cooking pike. I know that most of the lake fish have parasites, especially the fish who eat other fish. It would be safe to eat if cooked well, but when I see something like that I just loose my appetite.
