Gonz, I would like to get down to 65kg myself , I'm 76kg
Just took on the roll of new mate, to a Jack Russell , I have named Rocket as looked like he might be doomed, owner died & needed new home, he is obedient , & likes me. So will be doing a lot of walking & extra work. Soon.
I want to make Rocket a happy outback Jack!
Buddy, our late great Maltese Jack Russell was a feisty active little pal, who had us doing laps of the neighbourhood daily - good move, mate. :goodjob:

I promise I haven't forgotten about everyone on here...life has been getting in the way of my social life lately :disapp:

+ I finally bit the bullet and signed up for internet. It is LTE based and the speeds aren't bad. Much better than the 3G I used to get!

- Work has been murder but no use in complaining about that as it never really changes. SSDD

+ Hippo is still going strong, I think she is on 212K km at the moment

I'll have to read back a few pages on this thread to see how everyone has been :goodjob2:

Using your same tester, my results are not up to your standard as I'm on ADSL 2.....

Ping: 20ms     Download Speed:  7.79Mbps    Upload Speed:  0.62Mbps

I would like to see if one of our Swedish members who live in the city show their results of this test....

Well, I live out in the boonies, but here is mine. I pay for 60/10, ADSL on dug down copper. They are promising fiber before 2020, so I'm just waiting for that. Closest city is 55km, and its a small city Karlstad (which is probably not even a city on international standards). When I lived in Karlstad my internet was provided by cable, and was usually 10-15mbit below what I payed for.

I guess this is one of the positive things when living in Finland. I pay 10€/month for this. 10MBs connection would be free...(it is included in the rent)

Man that is awesome. My solution is 'up to 150mbps' and I'm paying ZAR600 a month for it, or about AU$60. It flies during the day but it gets congested every once in a while where it drops down to 3 or 4 mbps :(

We are supposed to get upgraded to the NBN in our street this year some time, but being more than 3 Kms from the exchange up a rural road I can't see it being consistently much better.

Our NBN is supposed to start this month, according to me, it should be the same price as ADSL2.

It's pretty good, but obviously a lot below some of our international members. We are getting 20ms 12.5 / 6.8 at present. DODO is my supplier and they have NBN & phone for AU39.90 / month including calls. We are paying 29.90 / month and a separate phone line rental and calls, so I expect to be renegotiating.

And almost no loss of signal in 4 years, sometimes 5 minutes while equipment is swapped over.

+ We are getting NBN at home, on a fixed-wireless network
- Our neighbours across the street can't get it
+ They can get fibre to the door
- It isn't switched on yet
+ The price is the same as we were paying for ADSL2
++ We have doubled the download limit (up to 1TB per month now)
+++ That is a lot of prawns!! I mean, legally downloaded movies and Netflix
- I am in Orange and have to make do with my iPhone paired to my laptop
-- That is only 12 GB per month
++ I still have a job

My ADSL2+ is pretty slow here also, I actually get faster speeds with ADSL1 down at the other house as not many people use it any more.

I feel kinda sad for you guys. Virgin keep nagging me to cough up a further £8 per month to get my speed increased to 200 Mbps. It's not of interest - I can't type that fast

I can only dream about the 100/10 because I'm not living in a city. Fiber is not available in my area, and even if it was, my neighbors in this housing co-op would most likely vote against it.  :Pout: They are mostly elderly, some of them having no internet at all, and other having the cheapest mobile subscription. It would be too expensive to order the fiber just for myself.

The best what I can get here is ADSL2, and I really hope it will not be discontinued some day because of low demand. It's fast enough to surf the net fairly comfortably, and to watch the smart TV over the net without hickups.

I also have 4G mobile internet in my smartphone and theoretically it would be faster than my ADSL, but typical speed varies a lot and is far from optimal because of limited capacity. It may be fast at morning, but is almost stalling at afternoon when children and teenagers get out of school.

Alan and I, and a few others I believe, are elderly/old aged.   The Uk government decided many years ago that 70 was the cut off point at which time the retirement pension changes to the old age pension.

The point is, we have fibre broadband.  Just go round to your neighbours and show them how to Facebook, Skype et al

Wish we were getting fixed-wireless (it would make sense here) but just on the cusp so we will get fibre to the node (which probably won't help much) and some others nearby will get the fixed wireless.  :Pout:

My son tells me you can pay to extend the fibre to your house. He's costed it out and reckons he'll pay it. Probably about half your distance Dazz. He's at the end of a private road.

Thanks Trev, I'll ask the question once they advise it is available. I doubt I would pay the extra...  :snigger:

About 8 month ago we got fiber installed, pay 20 EUR/month for a 50/50 connection.

Looks like I need to get a wifi extender or move the router closer to where I mostly use the laptop

I've never worried much about what speed i get as long as it works & is cheap.
but i can tell you it is a lot quicker than it was back in 1996. how about the rest of you?
like i watch a video now and no long hold up waiting. in the old days the PC was slow so was server speed plus cost more.
