I've never worried much about what speed i get as long as it works & is cheap.
but i can tell you it is a lot quicker than it was back in 1996. how about the rest of you?
like i watch a video now and no long hold up waiting. in the old days the PC was slow so was server speed plus cost more.
We still get video buffering sometimes :fum:

About 8 month ago we got fiber installed, pay 20 EUR/month for a 50/50 connection.

Looks like I need to get a wifi extender or move the router closer to where I mostly use the laptop  :mrgreen:

Still plenty quick enough! Those ethernet through powerline extenders wwork well and are cheap. Netgear AC1200 EX6200 Wireless Range Extender is brilliant if you don't want any cables, but not cheap. I use both...

Pretty true.
Only really notice it if I run a Youtube vid at HD speeds.

That sucks Shambles!

+ I got my new driveway delivered...
- Into a very large pile instead of slowly dumping it while driving off like they usually do so it goes everywhere.

- Only 1/10th the way there...
+ But it sure looks pretty and I wont miss those holes that get filled with water that freezes to ice half the year!

@Shambles

Frustrating situation mate!  :disapp:

@xiziz

You have a similar driveway to us (ours is about 85 metres) We had it sort of sealed with cold lay bitumen a year or two ago...

who mows your grass, Daz???

I do! That was taken a few months ago after 2 inches of rain in 24 hours after a big dry spell. Washed a bit of soil and grass into my dam..  :Pout:

Looks heaps better now. This photo taken today...

@Dazzler
Wow, thats a nice driveway. My parents did bitumen too, looks nice and works well.
I want something similar too, preferably stones though, but its a cost, my current driveway has no foundation, so the clay eats all the rocks, so that needs to be done too. I got these rocks free, so just the labor to spread them, and besides: who can say no to free rock! :)

Thanks. It was pretty wet when we started building about 8 years ago. The builder suggested we put down a deep bed of coarse road base. It has bedded in really well. :goodjob:
Keep feeding the clay with free rock. It should bed in eventually. I've probably spent 10k on my driveway in 8 years!

+ Sold Getz yesterday. Easiest and fastest car sale I've made.
- Sold Getz yesterday. I really didn't want to sell it. I would have liked to have it as a second car, but did not have space to keep it. Also insurances for 2 cars would be a bit too expensive. Great little car.

I decided it was to much work to bring all them rocks by hand so I enlisted my neighbors help. Driveway done in 5 minutes. :)

Still gotta do some raking of the edges, but this saved me a weekends backbreaking shoveling.

Yes, love xiziz trees. They are coming, but poor soil and dry summer + animals have stunted their growth, but starting to take off a bit now.  :goodjob:

Yeah, I'm lucky to have them old trees, most of them were planted in the early 40ties, the smaller ones in the late 70ties, I have three apple trees blooming on the other side of the house. Had a good shower here yesterday after a very dry(for Sweden) two weeks. Grass and plants seems to love it and all the leaf trees have gone green.

I'm quite envious of all the nice driveways on here a few pages back...ours on the farm is nearly 4km long, so probably not easy to seal with bitumen or gravel...

+ I took Hippo's seats out today and cleaned beneath them. Amazing the dirt that accumulates beneath the seats in just two years' time.

- Last night on the farm...back to Port Elizabeth tomorrow and back to work on Tuesday.

+ I managed to score a bargain the other day, I found a nice infrared thermometer for AU$20 and it's practically brand new! The shops wanted AU$150 for a new one.

+ It's just past 6PM which means it's time for a nice ice cold Windhoek Lager!

Why would you quit.
Surely if they want to get rid of you they'd HAVE to do a redundancy package.

I would quit because the target job title (whether it be in CSC or back into the UK Government) would mean I would be stuck in an office doing HR stuff & career management & one-to-ones & finance & capacity modelling.

I do not want that. I'm a tekkie.

Redundancy package is only available if they let me go.
