What do you guys make of this cruise control green line reflecting off the dash glass, it is extremely distracting whilst driving, installed by Hyundai!!

Would annoy me.

Can the light be turned down or is it possible to put in a lower bulb wattage.
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

@eye 30

The light is an LED so it can't be dimmed (easily.)

I don't recall my cc being in that position on the dial, I'll check later today.

I zoomed the pic, it looks like an icon rather than the word "cruise". There should the word "set" when cc is active. Do you have this?

That sucks.

It may have been fitted by Hyundai, but is it genuine?

I made a small cover on it. LED is very bright, use a cover on it will reduce it and make the light smooth. For example, cut an 10mm ball pen tube and fix it onto the LED. Cut from a straw also works. Or any similar material.

A small shield just over it is what you need. Any chance of a closer pic?

The factory fitted cc has small SMD (Surface Mount LED's) with no plastic to attach a cover to. It is also mounted behind the Speedo face & shines through a window with "CRUISE" cut out.

No, it cant be dimmed. Could you put up a pic of the cover you are referring to

Attached is the original picture although dont think it helps much, says I can only attached 50KB, so I had to cut the picture

I will take a picture in daylight, camera picture will be better. I have complained about this but not getting much out of Hyundai regarding a fix for this

but if I put a cover around it, I will still see the reflection as the light is going straight up, bounces off the dashboard glass and then into my eyes. The problem is that I am too tall, if I slump myself in the seat I can't see it. I can even see the green line in daylight that is how bright the LED is

After 6 weeks of deliberating on how to solve the green line on the dash, the R&D guys at Hyundai scratched their heads and eventually figured they need to 'move it'. It is now sitting just behind the steering wheel, on top of the housing, further forward away from the dash glass so it cant reflect. It took 6 weeks to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moved the instruments to the other side of the car.

That's one solution, but quite clearly not thought through carefully

The obvious answer, to anyone with half a brain cell, would have been to replace the green LED with a red LED. Bingo! No more green reflection. Hah. Sorted.

I had CC dealer fitted to my 2010 i30 1.6 CRDi Premium. They fitted a small dome with a green lamp in front of the instrument glass on the right hand side. The only problem I had with it was that it was difficult to see whether it was on or off - it was too dull.

The new 2012 car has the indication in the instruments - a speedo symbol which is very clear.

Well, I'm glad I got factory cruise with my SLX...... :D

Sounds like the dealer fitted version is a bit cobbled together....

Very much OT but I thought that stuff was fall-out from the head-lining. Probably not good to breath. :scared:
