Just noticed my i30 came with a fag lighter and but holder.
my last two built in Australia Ford's di not come with lighter just power plug in.
I don't want people smoking in my car, i don't know about the rest of you but i don't like the smell it leaves. but i'm not a preacher you do as you please ;) . just don't like having a cig lighter in my car, Hyundai could save $ not fitting them or giving all cars a iPod cable in place of it.
what do you think?
cheers

check what the but holder is made of as i used to use them for spare change too, till i had one made of plastic break. always thought they would be metal.
Us old blokes don't use Macca's mate :D  we only sometime's go into Mc Cafe for a Cappo, think thats why they added that here, it's not in USA.

Well I've never used a car's cigarette lighter, nor any ashtray, in any car.

However, I do smoke while driving but only when on the motorway, with the window open, so the smoke gets dragged out.

Tis a good point you make though. My previous car - a Rover MG/ZR - had neither

I smoke in my car, but like Shambles I have the window down while moving.  I only smoke Indonesian clove cigarettes (Gudang Garam Kreteks) I like the taste of them, they dont stink like tobacco and they are not addictive...

Think it was Bob who discovered by accident that the internal lining of the astray is easily removed to make more room for change, keys etc...

I dunno if this is just old-school, but for those tent-travellers out there the car lighter provides a great source of power for a camp light or fridge. I intend (hope) to travel around Australia by car sometime in the next 5 years, with my i30, I'll make use of it then.

Hi Rubix,

Don't know if you noticed during your test drive but there are actually two 12 volt outlets in the console of the i30 (no one is really complaining about them as they are handy just to charge GPS and Mobile phone or other gadget at same time) just that in this day and age of anti-smoking some of us are surprised they still come standard with the lighter and ashtray in the car..

No, I didn't notice, my salesman hardly new a thing about the car - he didn't really know much at all really, but I figured there wouldn't be much any salesman could tell me because of all the researching I'd done anyway.
Cool enough. I think manufacturers might include it because "why not" rather than "why" - eg phone chargers is another good reason to keep them.

Take the cig lighter out and put this in: http://www.zweibrueder.com/ENG/produkte ... =automotiv
Nice blue glow when the power is on and very handy and bright torch when needed.
