Great find Jamie as detail has been a bit hard to get.
I still fail to see why Hyundai can't allow customers to select whatever drivetrain combination they want at any spec level.
I especially like this bit in the report:
The left-hand-drive i30 last week scored a five-star European NCAP safety rating, outpointing the new BMW 3 Series in the child protection category in the process. Hyundai Australia said the local ANCAP assessment is underway.  :D

Front suspension is again a MacPherson strut set-up, while rear suspension moves away from a multi-link arrangement on the old model to a less sophisticated, but space-saving, torsion beam.

I very much doubt that this statement is correct.

So you suspect it is still independent on the Aussie i30 Alan?

My guess is that it would be a major re-design of the platform to accommodate a completely different suspension arrangement. Whilst multi-link is more expensive - Hyundai would benefit from economies of scale.

One of the reasons why the i30 is a class leader in road manners is its suspension set up. Why change a winning formula?

I'm only guessing mind you - I have no facts to back it up other than this.....

Looking at the specs at the back of the i30 brochure, it says the rear suspension is a torsion beam.

I'm a little surprised at this.   Are all the i30s assembled in Korea using a torsion beam?
