There was an interesting article in the Drive section in Saturday's SMH on car prices http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=59098&vf=26&IsPgd=0

Yes, thanks Mick , an excellent article for those in the market to buy...

I've decided.  Don't care what the rest of the family think, but I want the petrol SLX.  Going to go to the dealership on my next day off and start the ball rolling.

Can't wait!  Will keep y'all informed.

Something to think about, is it your car, or theirs?

Are you driving it, or are they?

Are you paying for it, or are they?

Do you like it?

Purchasing a vehicle is something you do, because of you! NOT what others tell you to do.

Good luck, try to get the best deal possible.  8)

EDIT: Try and get a rear spoiler thrown in. Makes the back end look so much nicer! (Plus it's easier to have the dealer fit the spoiler. Use it as a bargaining tool)

Thumper is right, You should go with your heart.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of Eddy the experts out there who like to put thier 2 cents worth in to talk you out of one model or into another. These people might mean well, but usually end up sourering the whole experience.I would rather listen to the true experts like Cars Guide who awarded the Hyundai i30 the 2007 car of the year. The i30 rarely gets a bad wrap from any reviews. Hey, and they wouldnt put a five year warranty on it if it was crap.
I am glad you have made the right decision

Good luck and good decision. I have found without exception that the only people to bad mouth the i30 face to face or on the net have not driven one....

I'm thinking of taking my uncle and dad with me so they can see what I want.

My uncle is a panel beater, so he does know a thing or two about cars.

I'll try my best with the spoiler, as that is one accessory I'd like to have.
