I find this story hard to believe.
2,960,000 miles in 46 years means an average of 176 miles per day - driving 176 miles every day of every year would take some doing. He mentions that he has taken his car to numerous countries over the years including Australia. I reckon he counts the sea miles as well.
The car has probably had 10 engines/rebuilds, numerous gear boxes and rear axles, several sets of wheel bearings, two or three new bodies and Lord knows how many other replacement parts during that time. It's a bit like my favourite broom which I have owned since I first married 53 years ago. It has only had 7 new handles and 12 new broom heads and is still as good as new.
Cynical aint I.................
