Guys,
Read this link it is so funny

Basically the boss of VW was in a motorshow checking out the new i30 and was so impressed by its quality
that told his staff off......

There is a video as well, you will see that he is playing with the latch the control the steering wheel arm
and he tells his staff "Why can't we do it like this? How can they do it"

They are actually aiming at Golf with the new i30, whether they will achieve it is yet to be seen, but first impressions
are positive!!

This is what the German Boss says:

Winterkorn: "Why is it (i30) able? BMW is not able, We (VW) are not able.

Other guy: "What do you mean?"

Winterkorn: "The rattling noise!!!"

Other Guy: "We had a solution for it once but it was too expensive, so we canceled it."

Winterkorn: "Why is it (i30) able?!"

In german speaking countries you can find not one single article about the new i30 which does NOT start with this anecdote.

Winterkorn couldn't have done a bigger favour to Hyundai.

It has even been interpreted as a statement that the build quality of the i30 ist better than the Golfs, tough he actually is only sepaking about the adjustment lever of the steering wheel.

Well apparently he was also believed to have been talking about the interior plastics of the i30 as being of high quality and also rumors have it that he got one of his guys to cut out a piece of plastic off the interior to take as sample to analyse it back in the headquarters....
how true that is I do not know but I wouldn't be surprised considering he almost had a fit over the i30's steering latch....
