Hey

I have a question about the chassis clearance of the new i30.

Actually I need to know the space between the ground and the lowest part behind the back of the back wheels respectively in front of the front wheels. (See picture: http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/04/i30.jpg )

The reason for the question is, that I have a quite small parking lot which is limited at the backside by a very low wall. If this wall is lower than the ground clearance I asked to know, I'd be able to park some centimeters further in the back by setting the chassis over this wall. But of course I don't wish to shred off my exhaust or some other part of the car.

If it proves to be too low is the a possibility that you could adjust the ground level where the wheels come to rest.  A small paving slab on either side, some timber, something upon which to reverse the rear wheels so that the body and chassis clears the little wall???

Just a thought.

:goodjob2: :goodjob: Great lateral thinking ASA (still some new tricks in the old dog)

Haven't got one to measure but the Minimum ground clearance of the Ozzie version is apparently 140mm (according to the Hyundai website)

Don't forget the mudflaps if they're fitted. Why not remove the wall

Again, good thinking but they should be far enough forward to not be a problem  :sweating:

My car measures :

At rear : 245 mm from ground to exhaust (Lowest point)
195 from ground to mud flap - which is 50 mm away from the tyre tread

At front : 160 mm from ground to the black strip across the bottom of the bumper.

Note that these dimensions were taken with no passengers, nothing in the trunk and half a tank of fuel.

Thanks a lot for your replys!

With 245mm from ground to exhaust I should be good.

I hope by the end of the month, I'll be able to finally test it :)

When you have your test drive can you take it to your parking lot and see how it fits in?

That way you'll know for certain the clearance.

I already had my testdrive (but didn't test that) - and have ordered my i30 three months ago... it just hasn't been delivered yet.

But after AlanHo's reply I'm quite sure that it will fit (at least at the back end), because the wall is less than 20 cm high :)

I also tested it with my fathers Golf V and it worked without a problem.

I reckon they're just pulling the iron ore out of the ground in the north of W.A.
