My 2011 build i30 Trophy has its trip meter button hidden behind the steering wheel/stalk, what a silly place to put it, for the first few days of ownership, I was searching for the darn trip meter.

Does anyone agree with me?

Can't say I've had an issue with it's positioning... :undecided:

It's a bit like the ignition, I can't see that either but I have no trouble finding it to turn the engine on or off..... :whistler:

I tend to agree with the OP. However, it didn't take long to get used to it.

The ignition switch is in a standard position and usually has a large key sticking out of it (when turning off).

As an aside I find the fog lights switch difficult to find. But then I haven't used it that much so I've not "memorised" it.

mrs. komaterpillars parents have a terracan and the button to switch the cruise on is on the passenger side of the centre dash. so you've literally got to lean foward and reach across to turn the cruise on

Pip
That's nothing. Remember the cars where you had to get out and go around the back to turn on the tail lights? There was a little silver push-pull switch.

Or the man walking in front of the Horseless Hyundai Carriage with Red Flag to warn Horse Drawn Carriages and Foot Traffic that one of those 'new'  infernal automobiles was approaching at a speed in excess of 2 mph.

Infernal automobiles?
Gee, you were lucky.
When I was a kid we had to walk bare foot with no shoes on across gravel roads in t'snow, in t'dark with nothin' but half a candle, just to get t'school.
And that was on a good day.

You do get used to it.

Don't even look around my steering wheel any more - you just know it's where it was last time ;)

I think it's deliberately fitted there so you don't fiddle and drive at the same time. Doesn't work, I fiddle and drive now I know where it is.  :whistler:

I wish they had a settings store function then 1 press reset, it's a nuisance at the servo getting all the info.  :(

I just reset it at the servo and note the odometer reading when I get home and subtract th elittle bit on the trip meter.

Being an SLX, I alternated between the settings on mine regularly on my recent road trip.....  :whistler:
Also did the same with my GPS, comparing it's figures to the i30's......

Thanks for the replies, the Trophy, being the SX plus a few bells and whistles does not have the trip computor gear like the upmarket models, so we have the hidden tripmeter, instead.  You get what you pay for.

No doubt the 2012 model has the trip computor etc?

With the Trophy edition here, which is really one way of clearing out the model, did they also put that on the showroom floor in UK and Europe?

Think the Trophy was an Australia only initiative Lester.. They have done a few special editions in Europe over the years but not aware of a Trophy equivalent with the darker wheels etc..

I have a Garmin nüvi 2250......
I was mainly comparing the odometer differences between the two, but was also keeping an eye on the average speed variations......

Never seen or heard about a Trophy edition here in DK.

There were some special editions from time to time.
The FD came standard in Classic and Comfort trim.
Then special edition Classic Plus and one called Style.

When I need this info I normally just take a photo of the odometer with my iPhone and then later I can retrieve it easily to document it.

Bye Jeff.
