Thanks Russ.. Lots to take in (reckon I'll keep coming back for more looks)

The styling is growing on me.. Bit surprised you have to use a KEY though  I love how my key never leaves my pocket (Except when Trish washes my pants...)

I think you car looks much nicer in White than the dark blue I have seen it in  :goodjob:

Like the seats and love all the goodies

To me - the i30 is much the better looking car. I don't like the front grill or the strange crease in the side panels of the Merc.

Each to his own - I am sure others will have the opposite opinion.

Out of my league I'm afraid. But looks very well made and appointed. I love lots of dials and levers  :goodjob2:

M.B. + VW = European economic bailout, well, someone has to do it

Are they headlight Washers I see Russ (and front Sensors)  :goodjob: Looks like a nice steering wheel too..

Yeah Dazz they are headlight washers. They operate automatically
every 5th time that the windscreen washers are used. I guess the
theory behind that is that if you have had to wash your windscreen
5 time then the headlights probably need a wash too.
The front (and rear) sensors work really well and have both an audio
warning and a visual display. The steering wheel is the same one used
pretty much right across the MB range including the expensive
sports models. They don't seem to mind sharing the upper end goodies
even in the entry level B class.

Perhaps, you might like to give us a run down on how the Golf compares to the I30. I'm genuinely interested in objective views of what other car manufacturers are offering.

Me too. I think these two cars are bound to be ongoing rivals into the future so I'd be very interested too.
