I heard of a Russian woman saying the meteor shower was a result of Russia successfully hitting a larger lump of rock with a missile...

Today, on the radio, I heard some Russian scientist being translated, talking about it. But the most interesting part (for me), was the fact, the scientist was from Pulkovo   - so I remembered our Russian fellow.

there is an observatory near Pulkovo airport. I haven't been there yet, although all pupils of our class were taken there for a day trip one day, but I was unfortunate to catch cold  (year 1994 possibly)

Update on the news tonight damage bill now $33 million and 1000 injured (I think they said about 12 still in hospital)

Part of the meteor punched a 6 metre hole in an ice covered lake)

Think they said was the size of a bus and weighed 60 tons.. something like that
