Hi I have had this problem once before. When I go to start in the morning I turn the key and I only get a clicking sound from the engine. All the ignition lights are bright suggesting its not the battery,so after the bump start I drive it for 10 minute's and it starts up again fine.Any help as dealer won,t look at it as its an intermittent fault

Hi Milo.

What's the spec/fuel system of your i30?

Hi milo2013

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

Can you please tell us some more about your car..

Petrol/diesel
Age
Milage

There's is many possibilities in this regard, but I would guess the battery is low on voltage.

Have you had the voltage measured before first start..?  Could also be a corroded ground connection.

Tell us more... :D

I’ll go for a loose connection with the clicking sound.

Could be starter motor too I guess (but that clicking sounds battery related to me as well)  :undecided:

Welcome milo2013,

If the car is under warranty, the sealer must look at the car, intermittent faults are still faults and must be repaired. If not under warranty, I would turn the key and hold it there for about 15 seconds, then REMOVE THE KEY, lift the bonnet, locate the starter motor and feel the body. If it's stone cold, then the motor did not energise. If it's warm, go to the dealer and tell the dealer.
