I have had my i30 Comfort for almost 12 months now. I appear to have an intermittent fault with the heater

I climbed in the car after work on thursday aftermoon last week, started the engine and none of the heater switch lights illuminated. My car has manual A/C, not climate control. The fan worked as normal but the heater settings were locked on full heat and windscreen/footwell (as I had left it in the morning, it's pretty chilly at the moment). Pressing the buttons made no difference.

I assume there must be some computer logic with the controls, since pressing the recirculate button 5 times in quick succession switches off the semi-automatic windscreen demisting (ie. A/C goes on automatically when you select windscreen and fresh air intake is selected).

Anyway, when I arrived home, I locked the car as normal, reopened it and retried the ignition and it all worked normally.

Hopefully it was a glitch but I wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar problem?

I will mention it at my next service, in case there's a software update available.

My car is the same as your - manual A/C.

Always lights up .

My only gripe is the length of time it takes to get warm.

I've tried various options but not success.

My other Hy car - non A/C was warm within 1-2 miles.  This takes 5 miles plus, even on a mild day.

No such problems here, altho I do have climate control.

My first guess, would be that when you powered off on arriving at work, there was a glitch that somehow locked the controls in a funny state.

As you say, mention it at the service

Manual a/c too. I usually have it switched off except in hot weather mainly for fuel economy, but haven't quite got to grips with the logic of the system ie why the a/c light sometimes comes back on. The car seems to heat up quicker on cold mornings if fan turned up gradually (1-2-3-4) rather than full blast straight away.
