Strange how the extra bodyweight is an issue for the turbo Diesel, yet many members regularly tow vans & trailers and comment on how little difference there is.

+ Great interior room.
+ Drl's standard.

- Non Aussie refined suspension.
- Probable DPF.
- Bit pricey in the top spec.

We can’t help thinking, however, that the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine available overseas in the i30 – with a lusty 103kW and 304Nm on tap – would be the smarter option.

What engine would that be, I wonder?
I thought the 2.0 diesel engine was discontinued early on in the FD's model life....  :undecided:

Yes, Rusty! That had me wondering too

Aside from that, I thought both reviews were quite well written and fairly favourable  :happydance:

The first review seems to suggest the wagon handles better than the hatch, if that is the case why would they bother to tweek it?

Will be interesting to see what it costs in the real world.

Phil, I think the journalist that wrote the review is just going off what else is out there, & most of the other manufacturers use 2.0L &2.2L Diesels in this class , I have been in a new Focus turbo diesel Titanium with the twin clutch auto & they accelerated quicker than the i30 lot more Torque. the VW 2.0L turbo Diesel a lot quicker two but that does not mean I would buy eather of them as I know they will out perform the i30 but they also use a lot more fuel & they go through brake pads & disc rotors if you live in the city also not as dependable. but a car journalist does not have to own or pay running costs just help sell cars I pay no attention at all to what these people write as they would not know where the dip stick to check oil is.
