Over these last few weeks my drivers seat has developed a squeak.....
It's driving me mad, every bump I hit, the seat squeaks.
I've checked it for mice, but nothing....I'm at a loss as to how I can stop it.

So far the only "cure" is to turn the music up louder....

Anyone experienced anything similar? 

Oh, and I've noticed the material on the seat "wing" (the part that wraps around near my hip) has nearly worn through....Not happy Jan!

Can you get to all the bolts to check them for tightness?

As for the wear... seat bolsters do seem to get hit quite hard. I treated my leather one to wheelers leather food a few years ago and it's held up nicely. That probably doesn't help you much

I have been thinking of unbolting the seat and perhaps tilting it back enough to get the good ol' silicone spray under it and to give it a squirt. 
Seems it fixes everything else....

Not much I can do about the "bolster"wear though....

As much as I dislike the idea, I may need to fit seat covers......

I've had 2 cars with squeeky seats, both were broken welds. I hope the squeek you have is a loose bolt / nut / screw. On this occasion I suspect Silicone spray will be an enormous let down

Hopefully it's not a broken weld, but then again I guess it would be fixed under warranty... 
I actually called into my local dealer today and made mention of it. He said he's never heard of that issue before but said he'd have a look at it when I bring my car in for it's next service.

Just fixed a squeak in my drivers seat, from near the bottom of the bolster below the lumbar support. It was coming from the plastic axle attached to the rake adjuster knob interacting with the lower frame of the seat. I neatly twisted some stainless steel wire around the Axel and frame to apply just a little squeezing force and that fixed it. Probably other ways to do it too.
Getting into the seat is easy from the rear, just two metal clips to pull back the top of the plastic shell then it lifts up and off.

My bolster is wearing too, I don't know how much help car seat covers would be, because there would still be the rubbing between the 2 surfaces.

My plan is to get the motor trimmer who fixes the work cars to fix it up when it gets bad, will probably cost about the same as seat covers.

Seems I was a bit slack and never posted an update.....

I mentioned the squeak at the 60,000k service and they managed to fix it, not sure how but, fingers crossed it hasn't returned.

As for the bolster, I'm hoping that with the seatcovers having foam and soft material lining them, the wear will be much reduced.
Must buy some one day before a hole appears....

I think I've got the identical issue on my i30 drivers seat. Creaks quite obviously as you shift around in the seat and for example during braking. Adjusting the lumbar support to full out makes the noise cease so I feel sure the problem is seat-internal and close to the lumbar adjustment gear. I'm going to investigate if it's as easy to remove the i30 driver's seat as you say.

It sounds temptingly simple to remove the front driver's seat and have a look at the bolster/lumber support fix.
But as I've got 4 months of warranty left on my '09 i30 I was thinking of taking the creaking seat (has got worse lately) to the dealer.
As to the answer an early post on this tread had from his dealer - creaking is normal for a 1 year old car - well. I've not had a noise like this on ANY car I've owned up to now. That includes a 13 year old car.
Also I'm wondering if there are any electrics connected to the seat (like the pressure sensor on the front passenger seat)...

Yes there would be an electrical connection to trigger the drivers side airbag...

Yes I think it must be. I was looking back to the time when I got my first car and took my girlfriend out .It was a second hand Hillman Minx. Boy did that rear seat squeak . More embarrassing was when I decided to paint the rear leather  seat  with some red paint , the guy who sold it to me guaranteed it was the bees knees for leather ( yeh right ). Saw my neighbours waiting at a bus stop 2 weeks later and decided to give them a lift. Wasn't until they were getting out of the car I noticed the back of her light coloured coat stained red.

In the end I scraped a warranty repair on my seat, just under 5 years.
The dealer revealed the eye-watering price of the replacement seat, needed special authorisation from HQ to proceed.
Made me wonder how we'll afford to run Hyundais once they are out of warranty and start to need more TLC.

Did you ever take the plastic back off the seat to look at the axel on the lumbar adjuster knob? you don't need to take the seat out to do that, it's literally a 2 minute job and requires no tools.....

I have also noticed some squeaking in my seat now and then. Somehow it tends to happen after eating pea soup and rye bread...

That bolster fabric wear issue is largely due to the habit of wearing a wallet in our back pockets. I don't and mine is good as new.
