I only had one of them, a 2 litre Marina. Which, when it was working, was a good car - well apart from when in sidewinds on motorways. :)

Never a fan of the Imp, but the earlier cars, the Minx, were quite comfortable, I liked them, I remember the gearchange linkage was above the steering column and used to click & creak when moved. Hmmm, that's going back a bit.  :undecided:

The Marina is endangered in Australia too.
Over here we had 6 cylinder models and a twin cam coupe.
Went like the clappers but didn't handle.

I just like cars.
I like the old Cortinas, but I also like the old Marinas (Aussie versions).
I also quite like the Rover SD1 too.

I was led to believe that, with the Cortina, the endangered was the driver. :whistler:

I was reading this at work earlier (busy day) and if they were all lined up in front of the crusher and I could only save one it would have to be the Imp, the rest all all to dull to care about. Having said that I do have childhood memories of my dad owning about half a dozen of them but none of them are "I really miss that Hillman Avenger"

Good call.

I have one for 5 years and prefered this to the mini.

Great car to drive and never had any problems.

Great little engine and held the road well in wet/ice/snow.

Phil you haven't lived until you've got a Zeta sports up on two wheels in the Clovercrest shopping centre car park, holy cow wasn't that years ago.

You could pick them up and carry them home if they broke down

I have a vague recollection of a driveshaft like a crank of which there were two being quite visible as the car approached.

I think I got a photo of a Zeta Lightburn at the Birdwood Car museum in SA ..

 :backontopic:

I feel young because I don't think I ever drove an Imp or many of those other cars in the top 20 (except the Cortina - had a Mark 2 as my first car)

Great little engine and held the road well in wet/ice/snow.

One of my chums had an Imp, I think he used to keep a sack of sand in the front boot to help with the roadholding.

Though one night he was giving me a lift home from a party and apparently a hump back bridge gave him some problems. I don't remember anything apart from 'coming to' in a field about 150 yards from the road.  :scared:

That car isn't around unless someone rescued it from the scrapyard and knocked the roof back into shape. :)
