Hi folks
am considering getting an I30, but not sure whether to go for an 2009 Premium or the later model? I dont want satnav, but due to the restrictive rear quarterlight views, am thinking of a rear camera. My wife is only 5ft and has difficulty in seeing out of the back of a lot of modern hatchbacks.

The Premium has the advantage of no EDF.

What are your thoughts on these options?
Any other hints, tips or prispective buying info?

Welcome to The i30 Owners Club.

Well I have a 2008 1.6 petrol Premium. I dont regret buying it at all, reliability has been fine. I use the mirrors for reversing & have never hit anything yet.

Buy on condition really, 1 owner, all bills, service history all the usual.

But do drive any potential purchase over all road surface types, some think the suspension is hard, personally I prefer it that way. The independent suspension with multi-link is better I think than the torsion bar examples too. If you can, I'd suggest buying a Korean built FD (version 1)

As usual I'm sure there will be lots of Tips & Advice from all the interested members in here, this really is an awesome Forum.  :goodjob:

Welcome.

Before you decide whether or not to buy best to actually sit in and check out your concerns.

Is it a dealer or private sale as this may influence purchase re any issues discovered once bought.

Welcome "the mad hat man"

Without stating the obvious there is going to be a lot of difference in price (and remaining warranty) for a 2009 V 2013 model i30.

You really need to drive both back to back (and your wife as well) as they are quite different.

With regards to the Rear Camera, my wife is only 5' tall but copes ok with her MY11 i30 CW (wagon version)

You can get wireless reversing cameras quite cheaply in OZ (I'm guessing you would get a reasonable one over there for around 100 pounds if you got the earlier model and found your wife needed help)

We have a reversing camera in our #1 vehicle and I love it.

Good luck with your shopping. Make sure you have a good test drive in mixed conditions if you are looking at a 3 or 4 year old car.
