hi have 2012 FD i30 hatch  the steering has been off to the right from day dot the dealer swapped the tyres  around and said it was fine which is wasn't but dealer was out of area i have persisted with it but had a wheel alignment done at 20000  and lo and behold it came back the same still off to the right so i took it back and he did it again and it seemed better but after driving for  a couple of days it seems to be off to the right again so i dread going back again but if i do i would like to be armed with more info like do the have  castor adjustment and is that for things like that and any info on the steering angle sensor any help would be great

Do you mean that the steering wheel is offset to the right when the car is travelling straight ahead - in other words the steering wheel is not set properly to the straight ahead position and the car maintains a straight line without constant adjustment.

Or

Is it that the car on a flat non cambered road constantly tries to move to the right and you are having to hold the steering wheel to the left to keep a straight line.

Either way, it's not right and needs to be fixed but a clarification on those points is important.
I'd also like to know how the tyres are wearing - maybe with photos of the tread of each one.
Also, this question belongs in the Tyres section. I think it's more relevant there than in the Introduction section.

its more like the if i hold the wheel straight the car drives to the left the tyres have worn ok so i am wondering if it is a tracking issue, and sorry i posted in wrong area i realised after i did .should i repost in the right spot

I remember posting sometime ago a similar problem i was having with FD,

The car would steer in a straight line but the steering wheel was not horizontal (slight angle to right) and if i was to correct this angle it the car would pull to the left.

I also had a full 4 wheel alignment with print outs to show it was straight. Hyundai could not figure it out, neither could my private mechanic..... But because my steering was making a clicking "knocking" noise, Hyundai ended up replacing the steering column and BAM, problem was gone. Not that this helps you

I think when i posted SurferDude mentioned something about a "steering angle sensor" and possibilities or resetting or re-calibrating that.. About 3 weeks ago some crazy P-plater cut a corner and forced me to swerve and hit a gutter, interesting thing was that this didnt effect my alignment as car still drives straight but again, steering column is not sitting horizontal...

I have similar experience since changing new tires recently.

In the beginning, I felt not comfortable with the steering wheel "very very slightly" to the right. Re-checked with the garage with my opinion:
Prior to doing tires aligning adjustment, they fixed the steering wheel to the center with some tool to prevent turning. However was it possible that when they adjust the tire direction, the steering wheel turned slightly because it was not perfectly fixed ? So, when the tires were aligned, the steering wheel was slightly to the right. They said "could be possible, and seems you are much more sensitive than other customers".

Another point of view is, visual inspection of perfect steering position could be different for some extent among different people.

Since I changed to the new tires, the garage also mentioned the wearing of tires might help. But as time went by, my tolerance got used to it.

If the car drives straight and the steering wheel is off centre as you describe it could be fixed by re-setting the steering angle sensor (SAI) - which must be done by Hyundai unless you find someone who has the very latest alignment gear and updates, plus the tool to do this. Personally I'd go to Hyundai.
But, it could also be caused by the rear alignment being slightly out of kilter. Which means the tail is trying to pass the front, hence you have to turn the wheel slightly off centre to counter that. There's not a lot of adjustment there but it should be checked when they adjust the SAI.
Eventually the tyres WILL wear on the shoulder.

thanks i will contact hyundai about SAI when tyrepower did the alignment they did all 4 wheels as he said the rear was out slightly ,  what do you think hyundai will charge  for this, also i read a post somewhere than can adjust tracking or steering via computer or would this be the SAI,

Sorry. i don't have any idea what Hyundai charge.
Also, sorry I used the abbreviation SAI for the Steering Angle Sensor. That's wrong (brain fade). SAI is Steering Angle Inclination, a wheel alignment figure, probably not related to this issue.
