The brake fluid in my 07 vehicle has never been changed.  A couple of members here suggested a while ago that I should get it done.  Should I get the clutch fluid changed as well?

Also, the coolant has been changed once, at 45,000 klms in May 2010.  If I get the brake/clutch fluids changed, should I get the coolant changed as well?  Car has now done 87,000 klms.

Would you suggest getting it done by Hyundai or a local mechanic?

Go to a mechanic you can trust, to actually perform the work. It can be difficult to tell whether the brake fluid has really been changed. BTW, brake fluid changing is best performed by 2 persons, so look for a service centre with more than 1 mechanic.

Dont quote me on this but i think the log book says to change the coolant every 45,000k or 2 years, and i think the clutch/break is 30,000 and 2 years,

Pretty sure you're right, Ryane....well, mostly
Mine has had the brake fluid replaced at 30,000k intervals and the coolant was done at the 45,000k service, which would suggest every 3 years???. 

I should probably dig out the service book to check..lol

Thanks.  I took the top off the brake fluid reservoir a while ago (I cleaned the outside of the cap and reservoir pretty well before removing the cap) and the fluid was pretty scummy so I should be able to tell if it has been changed. 

But the coolant - for all I know they could top it up and I wouldn't know if it had been changed or not.

You could do what I did....I swapped to a red coolant.

Probably irrelevant really though as Hyundai insist on us changing it every 5 minutes....

Why not change the coolant yourself..

I changed it on mine last weekend, very easy.

There's a drain plug in the cooler/radiator, just unscrew and....

The hose connected at the bottom of the cooler needs to be disconnected to let the coolant out of the engine. Just remove the cover under the engine and there's room to disconnect the hose.

Put the plug back in place and connect the hose again, then start the engine and fill up with coolant/Water mix 40/60.

Take the car for a drive long enough to make sure the thermostat opens, then top up the coolant again after the engine have cooled down a while.

Job done. (and a lot of $ saved)
