The missus has been going on, and on, and on, about me having a new car while she bumbles around in her 1997 RAV4.
I kept telling her how my job provides the income and a reliable drive is soooo important so I should always have an uptodate car while she uses hers to sort out her 3 horses.
Anyway, recently she's been telling me she can smell petrol when she refills, so last Saturday I went to the petrol station and filled the RAV4 myself. Jeebers, was a stench. For every gallon I put in, a quarter of it was dumped on the forecourt. Jeebers. What a waste of fuel.
Anyway, I asked questions on a Toyota forum and the replies said the filler/breather tube were probably corroded, as happens on that age of the model.
Checked it out, and yes.. the filler pipe looked like a cheese grater

So, decided to kill two birds with one stone and located a replacement RAV4 for her.
Went today, test drive, liked it, shook hands, part-exchanged her RAV4, and did the deal.
Looked at the invoice when he was writing it out...
...An ex Hyundai dealership (Stockport, UK)... bust because of the current climate. Got the car cheap too.
Here's a pic anyway
