One of the rumours I came across while catching up with a few old friends at the recent ARC event in Qld was thet former champion Simon Evans is slated to return to the sport next year in a Kia.
Simon has said that, as usual, nothing he does will be half hearted so expect him to be competitive.
With Renaults and Honda Jazz tackling the series this year, it makes sense for Kia to join in.

Evans and his wife Sue are multiple champions, having driven Corollas, Lancer EVOs, VW Golfs and Subaru Imprezas over the years.

KIA had best do something about the clutch, they are weak.

I think that what benefits Kia, benefits Hyundai.

What KIA will he use Trev? would you think it would be hard to take on established makes?

Probably the Rio Steve (but could possibly use the Cerato I suppose, sister to the i30 after all)
  • 2021 MG PHEV ( had 4 x i30 plus a Getz an Elantra and a Tucson)

There are currently teams running Honda Jazz, Mazda 2 and Renault (Clio?). These meet the standards for the ARC, but I'm no longer up to date with what they are. I know they are 2Wd and are setting times equal to and often better than the allWD cars, so whatever the level of development is, it's pretty potent.
I imagine the specs meet some sort of international standards because that's what Australian rallying has done for many years now, to encourage manufacturers to compete.
So I imagine it will be the Rio built to similar specs as the above three marques.
And Simon Evans would not be competing unless he figured he'd be at the pointy end of the field.
