There's a major auto trans service required at 90k's, looks like you're due for a second major service, unless it's already been performed. If the car has been properly serviced and stamped, you should still be in warranty, so have it checked out by Hyundai.

 :welcome: Brett

Any delay selecting reverse?  Seems to be mainly 2010 model Autos that have had some issues with the Auto fixable under warranty. Some sort of valve needing replacement.

No delay in reverse, I did not think it would be under warranty at 185000km,s.

If your Port Stephens is the Australian Port Stephens, you should have an unlimited km new car warranty.

Welcome to the forum, too.  :goodjob2:

:whsaid:

Should be under warranty if car is less than 5 years old (which it is) and has had proper log book servicing by an A grade mechanic.

Could be the valve body, I had one replaced on the 2011 I30. It had a shudder between 2nd and 3rd, I have also read lazy change as a symptom. It was the only fault mentioned in one of the car reviews I read.

On the plus side, if the auto is stuffed there are a couple on Ebay for around $800

185,000 would almost be the highest on here. How is she holding up?

The i30 goes well, have owned it for a while now just trying to work out if  I could pay some to fit the valve body mod. I checked the service book today it started its life as a company car, so I guess warranty is out of the question however it has a full hyundai service record from new.

I would be testing the water before you give up on a warranty fix ...

Yep, make them diagnose and work out if it is warranty. I suspect if it is the valve body and it is not warranty, it might be better to throw a low k used auto into it.

If you do get a price, get the part numbers of the required parts, then you can plug them into google and see if you can get them cheaper :)

I had a similar issue with mine before I sold it.
at 109,000 it started.. got progressively worse. It was a week before my 5 year warranty expired (one of the reasons why i traded up) and they replaced the entire transmission under warranty (would not have been cheap). It got to a point that going from neutral drive would make the entire car shudder.
Get in there and get it looked at, they may need to replace the transmission.
Drove like a new car once they replaced it. The person that will buy it is gonna get a bargain.

So all just to get back to you guys, Company cars have a five year or 120000km,s warranty. After a visit to hyundai and some phone calls they fixed the car under warranty however I paid the labour, it is going fine now and we are very happy at 187000km,s it only cost us $300 dollars all up including new oil good service Hyundai.
