Hi everyone today I made an led light for my hatch to replace the existing bulb. It started off with a 12v torch that I got for free because the switch didn't work, it was fairly easy and actually a lot of fun. I have some pics for anyone who is interested.

The boot light removed

the led board from the torch I got (I also got about 3m of twin core cable that will come in handy for something else)

hacked up both sides of the circuit to length

Had to file out 2 little tabs there so the board can sit flush and centre

Had to also cut of 1 row of leds horizontal for it to fit nicely

Had to bridge the earths on the left hand side leds and bridge them to the leds on the right. Also attach the positive and negative to the existing prongs so I can still use factory plug

Didn't have to glue it in as the board was pretty tight and the negative prong holds it down

Plugged back into the boot

Great stuff jesse91 :goodjob:

I went down an easier route and bought a led panel that fitted (just about) nicely without surgery ;)

Nice work, Jesse, I love a bargain tweak. :goodjob:
I did a very similar thing for the main cabin courtesy light. :happydance:
Can you identify the torch you hacked?

That's cool I haven't seen that tread before it's almost the exact same. The torch was just some cheap supercheap auto one.

I can't find yours in their catalogue but I guess the SCA 24+3 LED mini magnetic light for $9.99 will do. Just need to resolder the LED tracks for 12V and not 1.5 or 4.5 (3AA batteries).
... unless you can point me to yours! :D
