An old friend of mine was looking for something to replace his ailing Citroen Saxo and had test drives in lots of tiny cars but found none of them much good for various different reasons.

Dunno why he likes small cars but has had the old type minis, Hillman Imp etc. over the years.

I had a look at small cars on't interwebby and spotted that the i10 got pretty good reviews, so suggested he have a look at that. He got one and is still very pleased with it over three years later, well apart from the radio being duff and the fuel consumption being worse than his Saxo.

The i10 is actually bigger than the old type mini.

Anyway it was that which caused me to look at the i30 when I saw reviews for that - well plus the gov't subsidy at the time and that my Laguna was showing signs of age.  Not regretted it yet.  :)

Chum of mines son turned 17 a year ago and bought a Vauxhall Corsa which is all the rage with the young 'uns across here.  It ended up off the road for a while after somebody wiped him out going through a red light and he was given an i10 as a courtesy car.  He raved about how much more space it had compared to the Corsa as well as how much more acceleration it had.

I did tell him to look at the i10 when he was looking, but of course it doesn't have the kudos that a Corsa does for a 17 year old

There is a gradual trend over her towards smaller cars..

Only a couple of years ago most over here aspired towards something as big or bigger than a Sonata/i45.

Things have changed a bit now though, partly due to the cost of fuel and partly due to the improvement in refinement of cars like the i30 and others in the same class...

There are always exceptions though Dazz, in WA, they still have a hankering for large cars, like the P76  :P

If I remember right I think you have outrageous amounts of tax to pay on new cars in Denmark. So smaller cheaper cars will tend to sell well. :)

I tend to prefer bigger cars than the i30 but parking the things, both at my house and generally, make it less practicable.   I always imagine they have large driveways and big car parks in Aus. :)

WA, like Queensland is a bit slow.....give them another 10 years and they'll start to catch up with the rest of the country...  :P

True.
But we're deliberately slow.  :P
