A terrible crash.
I wonder if they caught the motorbike that caused it?

It's a lovely road but incredibly dangerous - narrow and winding and steep.
Some years ago a tip truck ran out of control and at the bottom ran into a house demolishing it and killing occupants - I forget how many but at least one youngster. The house has never been rebuilt. It's a vacant block now.
Honestly, the road isn't suitable for trucks.

Mona Vale rd haven't been there for years, not a road for a fuel truck from what I can remember,or any truck for that fact, there's one driver who'll be having nightmares for years to come,my heart goes out to those who lost their loved ones

Aren't these trucks built to withstand impact like this.

Must have been a flaw or something if it caught fire.

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

That's interesting.
I've had a lot to do with Cootes over the years (but not for the last 10) and he was always fastidious about maintenance.
Although I suspect the group is now controlled by someone else.

McAleese Group now own Cootes.  Good work by NSW Police and RMS, issuing 109 defects.  Now the Victorians should do the same.

No matter how fastidious any Tansport company is,there are always things that slip through the cracks,as for Transport companies accreditations, this is an absolute joke, just because you see an accreditation sticker on a Truck, large or small, don't take it for granted that this vehicle is roadworthy and the company is above board.

I'm with Lester it's about time each state, cracked down harder on cheking companies vehicles and accreditations, all trucks after 1982-84 I think it was where all meant to be fitted with speed limiters, the amount of semi's I follow on the Hwy in my car,I can't keep up with them,at least in NSW their starting to crack down on haulage companies, about time they did it Australia wide
