I hope there's no topic like this already.. If there is, just..delete it  :P

When I order a car (that happened only 3 times so far), I really can't wait for a long time. I don't know why..I just want to have it as soon as possible..   I've read on the forum that some of you guys have waited a month, two or even more for your i30 to arrive. Because of that i have some questions regarding that issue. And..because it seemed to me that 2 questions are not enough (looked funny), I had to ad a 3. question  :P 8)

So..here they are:

1. For how have you waited your car (i30)?
2. How long would you be able to wait for your car (normal car..not a car like Ferrari, Lamborghini,..)
3. How much money did your i30 cost?

In my case it was like this..

1. I went and ordered my i30 at my local Hyundai on the 19.11.2008 and received it on 25.11.2008.. So that means 6 days :) It was a looong week, but OK that's reasonable time for car to arrive  :P

2. I don't know..maybe for 2 weeks?

3. My i30 CW costed 16.500 EUR.. (=32,290 AU$ = £14,685 - i think?)

There are various threads about his on the site but I reckon that depends on what you want and what you are willing to accept.

If you go to the dealer and want a certain spec and colour then of course you will have to wait for it to be sourced or even built, so you are creating to a certain extent the delay by your demands.

If on the other hand you spot one and like and order it, you'll get it in days :D

My answers then

1.  Ordered on Friday, drove out on Monday.
2.  Depends on above.
3.  £13,488.

I ordered my MY09 1.6 CRDi SLX 5-speed manual in Midnight Blue on 05.11.08 and got it on 24.01.09.  It took so long because of the strike at the factory and they didn't have exactly what I wanted in Australia already.  It cost AU$29437 (at today's exchange rate that is about 15,042 EUR) with window tint, floor mats, dash mat, rear spoiler, on-road costs, 12 months rego, full tank of fuel and delivery to my door in the woop-woops of Western Australia.  So far I have done 535km  I think I need to get out more!

There is no way I could wait that long.  What happened?

I have been waiting 9 days so far, and the dealer appears to be actively trying to avoid me.  I have no idea how long I will be waiting.

They just didn't have the high end model I wanted, not many people buy that type, and I wanted the right color :)

1. 3 weeks. Delivery date was agreed to be 3 weeks later (estimated delivery time, for financial reasons I couln't have paid it earlier either), but mystically the car appeared next morning in the dealers back yard. So I could have had it next day if I had enough money in my pocket that day. But I didn't, so he had to wait for me for three long weeks...
2. I've once waited for a car for 3 months. I couldn't tolerate much longer.
3. 22 320 €. Including winter tires+rims and electric engine preheater.

I waited about 3days after shaking hands and it costed that handshake 24 500 euros to me.
Alloys and tires I bought few days after that and cost of those was approximately 1500 euros.

7 day wait last August, chose a popular colour and no extras. Paid £11k (about 12500 Euros or 24000 AUD) on 0% finance, dealer wouldn't discount price so had to haggle over part-ex value of old car. Much cheaper deals available now (plus better spec'd SE model in the UK) but at higher rate of interest.
