You are quite right Brian, once we have legalised Cannabis and maybe some of the others, there will be criminals in the wings ready to create designer drugs (they are already doing so, we need not wait).

I think that if we shrug our shoulders and say 'Well if we do this then that will happen, so we may as well do nothing'.  Then it's game over.

The criminals need to be imprisoned when they are caught, and for long enough to disable their criminal empires.  It seems we may be moving ever so slightly in that direction too with talk of American style sentencing 999yrs in jail

It won't  be long now before we have as many shootings over here as in Los Angeles poorer districts 'wonderful'

It is transparently clear to all that the present system doesn't work at all, so if we keep doing the same, we'll keep getting the same.   and on and on and on and on..................................

I'll stick with my opinion though as I have been fairly close to someone who started on pot and then got a liking for something stronger which very nearly killed them.

People who turn to hard drugs already have a predisposition to addiction of something which will give them a bigger longer high(buzz if you wish to call it that) ANY mind altering substance could have triggered their addiction to harder drugs and it does not take all that many years to go downhill.

As stated I have known Many people who went fro Alcohol to hard drugs,I have seen many of them die, also seen many who also seen the light before it was too late and asked for help, sadly it does not matter what anyone has to say to them, until they see the light, they will not change, some try to change to late and others do see the light live their lives one day at a time and try to help others with their addictions.

Yes legalising it is not going to help, but it is not the only mind altering substance which leads to hard drugs and IMHO is less harmful than Alcohol, maybe we should all be pushing for banning Alcohol and Tobacco as well and this along with not legalising Pot will help solve many problems

Well said Rick. I couldn't agree more.

My favorite saying and I think I have said it here before.

I am not the man I could be

I am not the man I  should be

But Thankfully I am no longer the man I used to be

I think my problem is (Like Trevor) that I have never needed Cigarettes, Alcohol or any drugs to lift my spirits. I have never smoked, never tried any drugs (except panadol)  :snigger: and only ever been a social drinker.. So I don't understand the mentality of those who have, or do spend big portions of their income on any or all of these to lift their spirits. (In most cases they seem to end up doing the reverse!)

The reference to designer drugs is a good one and in hindsight, will probably eventually cause more problems, deaths etc than Cannabis. :disapp:

Now these designer drugs are being sold via the Web I can't see them being stopped in a hurry!  :sweating:

Hey Rick, even a dip shit has to acknowledge that as a brilliant saying! :goodjob2: :goodjob: :victory:

Well , i've never been interested in Drug's or understood, why others need them .
so i can't really coment.
but when i toured Tasmania first time , people pointed out drugs grow or are grown legally in that state.
Also when i was in SA , people mentioned dope or what every they call it was legal, i did not ask the finer details as not interested.
&  Aussies , Brits , Germans , Kiwi's & many more have always been known for drinking culture . but in USA i was surprised on how they view Drink, like they need to be 21 years old. & was a lot of dry counties where the sale was illegal.
my parents never smoked or drank t total.
i never experience any problems in USA via gun's. large population there too like the State of Texas is around same size as NSW but has a population around the same as the whole of Australia. so have to expect more can happen there.
but i don't understand why a non smoker like myself would be interested in puffing on anything or having to breath in the fumes. just hope it's in a sealed area away from non smokers or non drug takers.
Also i'm proud of the fact i won't take pain killers, i've experienced more pain than most. but i refuse to take them, have surprised a few doctors too.
just my 5 cents worth
