Welcome
I presume still in warranty so just take to dealer to sort as it may not be battery related.

battery is only covered for 40000 miles my car is a taxi and dealer told me that because my taxi radio is on all the time when working that its draining the battery. one the battery gets below a certain level the stop start stops. i would have to leave it with them for near on two days to check and do an overnight recharge if needed. i would be cheeper changing battery myself taking into account loss of earnings hance the question of reprograming

Hi jim27
I believe the only programming will be the radio stations.
I had my battery disconnected once, but actually don't remember if anything needed reprogramming, so just go for it.

I changed my battery recently and the only thing I had to reset was the radio....

A radio can not drain a battery while the engine is in operation. The alternator fitted to these cars is well able to deal with the load. However, if the radio is on and the car is parked, that could certainly happen. I would connect the car to a charger when off. You can buy automatic chargers that will not overcharge the battery.

Hi Jim and
If you do replace the battery, try and get one with a higher rating to reduce the chance of this happening again. I imagine the cost will be tax deductable anyway

If you can get hold of one - give the battery a full charge using an AGM type battery charger.
If this fails to revive the battery - then it must be replaced by an AGM Deep Cycle type. Don't be tempted by a cheaper standard lead acid or even a sealed gel battery. The last time I checked decent batteries rated for stop/start diesels were around £200 each. Google "AGM Battery" for a full technical description.
The last time I changed a battery I first connected a spare battery across the cable terminals to maintain a 12 volt supply whilst I removed the old battery and fitted the new one.
That way you don't lose your radio settings etc.
