This my first day on the forum.  Been looking for a replacement for my 2001 Camry wagon, and finally decided on the i30 Tourer.  After a bit go looking, got a good deal on a new 2013 Elite CRDI 1.6L D Auto in red.  Last years plated car, but the dealer was looking to get it out the door, so a win win.

Hadn't driven the diesel before, but impressed by the way it performs.  Hadn't thought about red, but actually like it quite bit.

Roll on Saturday when I pick it up!  Can hardly wait.

Welcome Bushy, enjoy Saturday you lucky lucky. I have got to wait at least 6 weeks for my i30. Love the Red by the way but my daughter picked the red for her new i30 so I was not allowed to have that colour.

Thanks Asterix, pretty happy with it all round, last car I bought new was a 2006 Ford Focus Ghia, that has been a great car, but how technology has improved now, the voice technology makes me laugh though, my first drive of it 2 weeks ago was straight to Yorkshire 260 miles away! - enjoying the daily commute to work in London now (sort of) - and the entertainment system!

Thanks everyone.   Assuming the finance money gets to the dealer today (Friday), then I will be picking it up tomorrow and doing a drive down to the Mornington Peninsula about 50 km south of Melbourne to visit dad.  Drive in the new car plus do the good son thing and visit  dad at the same time.  May even have to go the long way?

Yes it is a bit of a bummer seeing I have been waiting a few weeks to make sure the finances were their before putting the order in but I am excited and it does give me something to look forward to. Enjoy your car and safe driving.

Another Wagon Driver.....

It had a slow start, but now I'm seeing the Tourer everywhere. Must be the LED running lights!

Picked up my i30 this morning, and then went for a drive.  The drive out this morning of 70km was all on freeways apart for about 5km, and I averaged 5.8 l/100km according to the car.  Then this afternoon drove home via back roads that went up into hills, and I pushed the car quite a bit harder.  That turned my fuel consumption into 6.3 l/100km.  Have driven about 200km all up today.  Impressive figures I think.  Be interested to hear if that sounds about what I should be getting.

To be honest, I am impressed.  Performed very well on cruise control on the freeways, but was fun to drive around winding hill roads.  (My old Camry I don't I could ever say was fun to drive on hilly winding roads.) The diesel has a lot of torque, and on hill climbs accelerating just went beautifully.

Sounds good for a tight new engine with Auto.. The 1.6 CRDi is an amazing little motor!

Hey Bushy,

That's good consumption for being brand new for a tourer. I got a new i30 last week, though last years model. And managed to get 4.9l/100km going 110kph.  With diesels being different to petrol,  once you get about 15000km. You will be stoked at how long a tank of diesel will last

Hi Dave,  my new i30 is also last years model.  Sure am impressed with the economy, and expect it to get better.  Since Monday when I reset the display, I have done a lot of city driving coupled with about 80 km of country freeway driving, and am sitting on 6.6l/100km.  Plus my sun had the car out testing the turbo diesel motor.    Haven't managed yet to get below 5 like you.

However still on my first tank of diesel since getting the car on Saturday, and done close to 500 km and just past the half way mark this morning.
