Hi,

I am a new owner of a 2014 Hyundai i30 Trophy. While looking through the car I found the attached item under the rear passenger seat (after folding the seats forward).
Any ideas what its for? I couldn't find anything in the manual and couldn't see anywhere in the seat area that it could screw into.

I was thinking that a worker might have just left it there by mistake as its a weird spot to keep something on purpose.

Thanks.

Hi,

seems to be a towing hook.
There should be one under the trunk, together with a screwdriver and tire-fit-kit.
Maybe someone forgot it on the trunk's mat, pulled it up and so it slid into the corner of the rear seats???

It is indeed the towing eye that is supplied with all the i30's. Mine have always been included in the rather sparse tool  and car jack pack normally found un the spare wheel under the boot floor. Yours must have fallen out of the pack and found its way under the seat.

If you look at the front bumper you will see a removable round plug which you prise out to reveal the towing socket this eye is screwed into

Yep that was it. It's now in its home back in the tool kit.

Thanks for the help everyone. Although I do feel a little dumb now  :-[

Being pedantic - I am compelled to point out that the article you mention is not a ruler - but a rule. :whistler:

Correct.  :goodjob2:
A ruler rules a country, for example.
Whereas, my willie is twelve inches long, but I seldom use it as a rule.
See the difference?

That's interesting because my dictionary says a ruler is a

1. A person who rules or commands

2. Measuring stick consisting of a strip of wood, metal or plastic with a straight edge that is used for drawing straight lines and measuring lengths
