Hi,

If in dash GPS was available in Australia would you be interested?
Unit would replace the storage bin on the top of the dash.
No I am not selling them, but if there is enough interest I can do something.
Unit would be supplied with Australian mapping.

Cheers

Sounds interesting.  There a number of different types in other countries.  So far I have seen the European flip up type and the Korean permanent screen type.  Which one are you looking at?

Hi,

The European flip up type, the same as the factory fitted model.

Cheers

I would be interested in the flip up model. I'm not too
keen on the permanent up version seen in Korea

I'm with you Dave.  The flip up type appeals to me as well.

I'm close (finally!) to ordering my i30 now, so yes I'd definitely be interested in the flip up one, not the fixed type. Do we know what size screen fits there?

Thanks, I use a Navman 4.3" at the moment so that sounds ok, as long as the mapping is good I'd be in that.

Hi mate.

The "quantities" you're looking for might at best be those who would like to say "interested, but need more info, pics, a firm price, whether fitting is included and any map upgrade options" as I see it.

I wouldn't want you to confuse interest with "commitment to purchase" at this stage.

It'd be a nice addition but $1500 is out of my budget atm.

Agree with Shambles - I'd also want some assurance that the units will perform to a standard comparable with other satnavs on the market.

I'd hate to shell out $1,500 and find that a $300 TomTom does a better job in Oz.

Yes, I'm definitely interested in the concept but at $1500 would have to be sure it was going to offer something really good, over and above what I already have. I like the idea of the positioning on the dash & being retractable etc, but the price dampened my enthusiasm a little bit.
Great idea though, if it works out.....

i think i would be interested if i was buying a new i30 and could see and test one that was in a demo car. so i could work out if it would be usefull to me and how easy it was to use. are the function buttons in dash or is it a touch screen? would it always know where you are? also i would like a large screen with an arrow in center that points in dirrection car is facing in relation to the map ( like as you turn or u turn the arrow rotates around to show what direction front of car is faceing. would also like speedo and trip information like my Garmin has.
would like a keyboard that comes out dash to allow you to program destinations as i think this would be a good idea hate touch screens

^^ As per lakes' comments.

Issues with warranty etc at this price make me go  considering some of the top of the line portable ones are ~800$.

Would really need something above and beyond the options available in one of those to be worth double the price.

If you can get the utmost spec's i may still be interested but really want some more information before committing to that sort of $$'s

wow..i was following this for a while to see how much it'll cost but...1.5k! wow..for that kinda money, ive researched that you could buy a lower range pioneer headunit with built in gps and itll end up cheaper..

but it was good that someone looked this up as an option for aussies! thanks

Just thought i would mention, even though the price is high, we have to allow this unit fits into the i30 dash top and folds away, the top line units you are quoteing do they do the same. the new Aston Martin has a really impressive in dash GPS really large screen too like 6" or more.  but would imagine it would cost a lot too.

I think this could be a really good thing... provided it works effectively.

Some of us would spend that kind of dough if it produced the goods...

I'm standing by (anxiously) to hear more info ...

Understandable Dirty, just interesting to note the new Mazda 3 say in there add's some of the new model line up will come standard with GPS built in. i think Hyundai will have to up there standard top of the range i30 or give it a face lift soon to compeat with the new Mazda 3 as the 3 they were compeating with was getting old. i'm going to take a look at the new 3 soon.
