Amazon keep sending me links to DSLRs and other sorts.

I get tempted sometimes but the camera in my phone and my Sony travel-zoom are really as much as I need.

Spending £1000 plus - on a DSLR plus lenses would be a bit silly as it would spent 99.9% of its time in a drawer, then get out-dated !  :)

Thanks for the article. The answer remains "it depends". Its like suggesting you don't need a four wheel drive to go to the shops. Of course you don't - but what if you actually want to go off road?

There remains some things for which a DSLR is the correct and only answer. For everything else, take your pic.

For interests sake: Gear « Keith and Joan's Gallery

Two six year old bodies and four lenses. No need to invest thousands to get something that does the job.
