Hello y'all fellow i30 fans!  :happydance:

Despite owning my i30 for only 1 year and a bit I'm still trying to figure out why I hadn't registered before now! lol!  :D

I have come to love all things Hyundai (and i30) after a 5-year spell on public transport. My wife finally persuaded me that we should get a car, and so I set about spending a few weeks researching the best car that we could afford. I considered (in this order): Reliability, fuel economy, intended purpose, purchase price, road tax cost, engine type, age, and finally aesthetics. This inevitably lead me to a second hand 4-yr old ex-motorbility i30 hatch that was for sale just around the corner from us. It was a hell of a job trying to find a 1.6 CRDI... Probably because they're so popular(?), so to find one so close and so perfect was quite literally amazing!  :D

Since that "day of enlightenment" our i30 (a.k.a "Emma") has NEVER made me wish I'd gone for something different!

Now that "new car" novelty has worn off I am beginning to let my tinkering creative side fly a little, which means DIY repairs, modifications, improvements (if any!). It's a shame that I didn't document my repair to the glove box handle and lock mechanism, that I did only a day or two ago; that would have been a great one to show "how to make good on a forced glove box lock"

A great many thanks to all of you on here already, whom have posted information about OEM stereo connections... That's a lil clue as to what my next project will be!  As soon as time allows, I shall be posting my progress, results and the painstaking research that you guys helped to create.

Thanks again, catch y'all later!

Steve

:welcome: Steve (we have a couple of Dodgy Steve's on here but you seem ok... :snigger:

I never worked out the reasoning behind hiding your number plate (Hundreds if not thousands of people see it every day and anyone can easily take a photo with their phone or something.

BTW, I enjoyed your first post!  :goodjob:

My thoughts exactly,I have nothing to hide and I'm pretty sure there's not a price on my head any more  :undecided:

Welcome aboard Steve :D

I'm with Dazz, regarding disguising your car's details. I'm NOT with Dazz regarding having 'dodgy Steves' in the club :happydance:

I'm the opposite, I obscure my number plate in any photos I post...
Having a photo on the net potentially exposes your number plate to way more people than just driving around your local town etc.

Just as an example, someone hiding from a violent ex partner who may know the rego number of your car but doesn't know where you live could potentially find your whereabouts after spotting your car online....

I just work on the theory, why offer up any more personal information than you have to?  :undecided:
Better to be safe than sorry, I reckon......  :goodjob:

Welcome to the forum Steve.

As for trusting someone who works for the government, only trust them if they are NOT politicians.
