A biker in Devon has been banned from the roads after police looked at his 'helmet-cam' and found footage of him speeding, jumping red lights and doing wheelies.

Motorcross fan Lewis Shallcross, 20, was pulled over by officers after he was spotted doing twice the speed limit at night without a headlight.

As he argued with officers about how fast he was going they noticed he was filming them - with a tiny camera attached to his helmet.

Police wound back the recording and found footage of Shallcross speeding through 30mph streets in Plymouth, Devon, moments earlier at about 60mph.

Headshot of Lewis Shallcross

A second video showed him pulling wheelies in the street, jumping red lights and roaring across a park, nearly hitting a dog.

The officers estimated he was riding at around 60mph in a 30mph zone and had no headlight on his KTM 125cc motocross bike.

When asked what he thought the speed limit was, Shallcross replied '100mph'.

Not surprisingly, Shallcross was found guilty and ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work. How was also disqualified from driving for 18 months after which he will need to pass an extended re-test.

Luckily for the pedestrians and pooches of Devon, Shallcross also had to forfeit his bike - and the helmet camera.

No

Lancs Police were looking at the footage so was wondering whether they had made a decision as to prosecute etc.

As I have not seen anything on the national news media was wondering whether it has been reported in local newspapers.

What a cock!

Dash cams and hemet cams etc. are great for recording incicents and accidents but they also record people's poor or idiotic driving in full HD Technicolor for all to see and people seem to forget this.

Great job!

Yes, what a plonker....  :)

What I'd like to know is can police demand to view footage or do you have to give them the ok first?  :undecided:

If they can just help themselves I'd suggest just about anyone with a cam would have incriminating evidence of themselves at some stage.

Even accessing your GPS the police could possibly find evidence of speeding...

Not only a plonker, but a very dumb plonker.

A very interesting point, Rusty.  I'd think that this person probably gave the cops access to the footage to prove that he didn't do what they said he did, not realising that once approval had been granted, they had access to all of the footage.

Remember, that in most countries, you are innocent until proven guilty, and it is up to the accuser to provide the evidence and prove your guilt, not the accused to prove their innocence.

Unless you get done by a speed camera....  :Pout:

There are ways to get hold of the camera if he doesn't offer it up.

Not sure about over there, but here they can request,to view your cam,if you refuse, they can then confiscate your cam(without viewing it)until they get a warrant, this is what I have been told, but the policeman that gave me this info also said most people are more than happy to hand over their SD cards,he has found the only ones highly resisting to hand them over are generally like this F------ Dick, they have something to hide.

Always happy to hand mine over, not that I have ever been asked,I clear mine after every trip,if it was non eventful
