It must be on a separate thread but someone discovered that sometimes this is easily fixed by adjusting the thin plastic cap retaining strap (which can foul the trap door)

Same issue with mine, everytime.I was thinking of just cutting off the leash.Hate how it just dangles there against the bodywork when filling.

Hehe, I'll have to check that out. Have only filled her up twice so far. All these new do-dahs
Hi.I'm not sure if this is the source of the problem (and a possible solution).I felt this problem a few times when I needed fill petrol."Curiosity sharpens the wit", and today I tested this several times. My conclusion is the following. (Right or wrong, I repeat, I'm not sure!)
It appears that the plastic "lead" that tethers the fuel cap to the car is one of if not the main culprit with the sticking cover issue...If it happens to Trish's car I will get permission to cut that lead off completely (with a built in holder in the flap it is pretty much superfluous really....
For me - the main virtue of the plastic tether is that it physically prevents me from removing the cap - putting it on the top of the pump - filling the car - and then clicking the filler door shut without first replacing the cap. I lost a cap on a previous car by doing exactly this. (senior moment!!!)
