Had an email this morning purporting to be from my electricty company Scottish Power!
It welcomed me to my own web page and to complete the set up to click on a link and enter the temporary password.
Now it did not look right as they are a -- co.uk whereas it came from a -- com address plus the link was a -- co.uk.
Also, previous messages have requested i log in and read.
Rang up scottish power and spoke to a young'ish sounding lady who assured me it was from them. After explaining re - com and - co.uk plus previously i have to log in to read messages she decided it seemed odd and would need to pass me up the line.
38 minutes on hold i get connected to a chap and to be honest i don't know why i bothered.
He was not interested. Said it was genuine but when i asked about what should be on the email to prove that., he did not have a clue. Plus the - com rather than - co.uk seemed to throw him.
I asked if he would like me to send it to them for information - answer no!
Asked him if a message would be put on their site... not his call.
In summary....he couldn't care a damn especially after i mentioned the virus reported on the news over the past few days.
I have not opened it and have deleted from my email system.
So just be aware in case you get an email which is not expected as it could be the virus one....
