hello has any 1 done this ,i have got a 2009  I30  with out this plate also i notice today when i took the plate off there  where spare wires for  it i think

Why not just use the sockets hidden inside the armrest?...

When I had this on my old i30 I plugged the lead in and then had the lead out on the passenger seat or by the gear lever.

No need to raise arm rest.

Not if you have already connected it before driving. It should be part of your pre start checks.

If you use iphone for satnav and audio, the armrest position is a pain due to required lead length (obtaining thereof) and necessary routing (avoiding handbrake, gear lever etc etc all the way up to the screen) - all ends up very ugly. I've ended up retiring an old iPod Touch to the armrest for music, and iPhone on the window for satnav relying on it's internal speaker, but this means I have to manually keep the iPod up to date rather than letting iTunes Match do it's thang.

Between the 12v sockets is much more usable in this regard...

Most of us just use a flash drive to store music on....simple and no cables required...

Have you tried using the Bluetooth feature? it's how I listen to my music installed in the iPhone and the satnav voice also comes through the cars speakers ( no cables needed except for charging )
