I watched it. I think I was probably watching the TV telecast of the 1 - 2 finish and lots of the other Bathurst races. The Mustang must have been a formidable race car.
Our family tended to buy Fords. Our earliest car that I can remember was a blue Customline that would have had a side valve V8. Mum had a Prefect, about 1950-51 model. Later, Dad bought a second hand Ford Custom, which was a lower spec Fairlane; they were commonly referred to as the Tank model Fairlane. He had the 2-speed auto out, fixing it, on more than one occasion, as well as the engine. Other Fords were second-hand XM and XT Falcon utes and a two-door ex-PMG Mk 2 Cortina for Mum, to replace the Prefect.
I remember a few of us going for a ride in a red Falcon XA GT four-door. It belonged to the husband of one of my cousins. I am sure that he said it used to be Moffatt's personal road car. That would have been in the mid-70s.
