Final day saw us going to Banff to visit the beautiful Duff House.  Originally a stately home of the Earl of Banff, the building was used as a hotel for the adjoining Duff House Royal Golf Course (a fantastic place for a round!) then as a sanatorium (both of these tasks once the Earl had bankrupt himself).  Originally the house had two curved blocks off either side, but these were damaged beyond repair when bombed in WWII, the repairs to the central block are obvious in the pictures. The house was then left derelict for the best part of 50 years when Historic Scotland took it over and it was renovated.  It now houses the largest collection of portrait art outwith The National Gallery in Edinburgh, so no photos inside, but lots outside, including the ice house (cold larder and the family mausoleum.
