I've changed plenty of brake pads on my previous cars but have now come to having to do the first change on an i30 estate. The only problem is trying to get either a manual or 'how to' video. Can anyone assist and point me towards where I can get this info as I don't like going in blind.

Many thanks

Chris

Front or rear?
At the moment it is just the rear as I still have a good bit left on the front.

Thanks for the video link but I'd already seen it and unfortunately my German is 'Allo 'Allo standard! :)

I'm guessing it's an FD?

Really professional approach!

Poor lighting
No gloves
No axle stands or support
No torque wrench

No sense!

FD?

As to the mileage, about 43k.

So has anyone got the manual page or details of any specifics to look at to do it?

I have the CEE'D manual for which  the pads are removed with the caliper in place and this would be the same method as previous Hyundai cars I have owned.

Remove the lower bolt, swing caliper upwards and retain with a piece of wire.  Pads should come out quite easily.

Eit:  I tried to post the caliper layout diagram but it will not work

Edit 2:  Try again

Hi Chrish

As you can see on Baradeur's Picture it's a really straight forward job.

FD is the first generation i30, 2007-2012. The current model is named GD

Many thanks baradeur, job now done. :D

I take it that it is the same for the front?

Where did you get the manual? I've seen some emanuals advertised, has anyone used one and any recommendations on where to get one?

Edit. Just ignore the front question! Just noticed it's the front! :whistler:

It's the CEE'D manual on a CD I downloaded about three years ago.  Same engine drive-line brakes etc as the i30 and electrics will be similar.  However, it will be for  Korean built cars  not Czech/Slovak models

If anyone wants a copy I can burn one.......did I post that!!!!!!!
