Today, my Wife (private email address) received an email purporting to emanate from BHLive - stating e-tickets attached.

This sort of thing happens all the time. Golden rule, if its not from someone you know/trust, bin it.

Would  unticking "hide extensions for known file types" in Control Panel help.
This will then show the virus which is called for example ticketinvoice.pdf as ticketinvoice.pdf.exe The real file type is an executable file (ie a virus), the .exe which is no longer hidden. Any .exe file received in an email is 99.999% a virus, which you will know it is now and will not click on it thinking its a safe pdf file.
